Founder of the Movement for Change, Alan Kyerematen, has presented himself as the leader Ghana needs to steer the country through its current political challenges.
Addressing supporters at a mega walk in Kumasi, Kyerematen argued that both the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) are deeply divided by internal conflicts, which has undermined their ability to govern effectively.
He stated that his leadership offers a pathway to unity and stability, positioning him as the most viable option for Ghanaians in this period of political uncertainty.
Mr Kyerematen called on citizens to break free from the dominance of the NPP and NDC, stressing that Ghana needs fresh leadership to navigate the country’s future challenges.
Central to his campaign is a promise to reform the 1992 Constitution. Kyerematen argued that the current constitution encourages corruption and hinders effective governance.
He pledged that, if elected, he would work to amend the constitution to create a more accountable and transparent political system.
Mr Kyerematen also criticized the widely touted Free Senior High School (SHS) policy, saying that while the idea is commendable, its implementation has been flawed.
He proposed a reassessment of the policy to ensure it delivers real benefits to Ghanaians, highlighting the need for reforms in the education sector.
In his speech, the former Trade Minister emphasised the urgency of change, urging Ghanaians to support his vision for a new political era.
He stressed that it is only through bold leadership and constitutional reforms that Ghana can move past the political gridlock and achieve sustainable development.
“Ghanaians are saying the country has been divided into two. Things that do not require us to be political, we are political about them. The NPP and NDC factions we belong to have internal rifts. Do they think the country belongs to them?"
“If the country belongs to them, they should tell me so that I can go and sit down. If we have two people fighting, we need someone to be the referee, right? Know that Alan Kyerematen is the referee for Ghana. Alan is the only person who can bring peace to Ghana."
“In the December polls, if the NDC wins, it will create trouble same as the NPP. The only person who will win and peace will prevail is Alan Kyeremanten. If you give me the mandate, within one year, Ghana will be transformed,” he stated.
