The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has called on the Electoral Commission to ensure that its actions sustain the country's peace, before, during and after the December 2024 elections.
Mr Nketiah urged the Commission to fulfill its role as a neutral body.
Speaking during the filing of nomination for the NDC's flagbearer, John Mahama on Monday at the head office of the EC, Mr Nketia stated, “From our rounds, there are all indications that change is in the air, and so we just crave your indulgence to secure the peace of the country before, during, and after the elections. We wish to urge the Commission to also play its role as a neutral arbiter.”
The NDC Chairman noted that the party has concerns about the electoral process and is engaging with the Electoral Commission (EC) to reach conclusions that are acceptable to everyone.
Mr Nketia added that the NDC will not overlook their rights in the run-up to the election.
“And so, we are hopeful that the Commission will listen carefully and discharge its responsibilities in a manner that is satisfactory to all participating parties.”
