The Chairman of the National Peace Council, Rev. Dr. Ernest Adu-Gyamfi, has revealed that the Council has mapped out all areas considered a hotspot ahead of the 2024 December polls.
According to him, these areas are being monitored on a daily basis since conflict can be triggered at any time.
Speaking on JoyNews' AM Show on April 5, Dr. Adu-Gyamfi emphasised that while some of the Council's interventions have helped to minimize conflict in some areas, others have recorded an increase in conflict.
“So we keep monitoring these things, and we have an eye on all these things. We have challenged all of the Regional Peace Councils to monitor these areas carefully, and a lot of work is going on in most of these places. “
The comment comes months after the Ghana Police Service said it is treating every constituency in Ghana as a hotspot.
According to the Service, they will leave no stone unturned in ensuring security before, during and after the upcoming polls.

Endorsing this stance, the Chairman of the National Peace Council said Peace Ambassadors have also been selected in these areas to promote non-violent conflict resolution.
He explained that the Council also conducts workshops and sensitization programmes in the conflict-prone areas as part of efforts to promote peace.
"We have training for Queen Mothers and the youth. We are currently in the various secondary schools. We have done training for tertiary institution leaders. We get into all those communities, and we keep working in those places,” he added.
