Founder and leader of the Movement for Change, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, says he has developed a waste management policy that includes private sector participation.
According to him, the policy will progress from concept to a structured program, followed by implementation using contemporary waste management techniques.
Mr. Kyerematen stated that the government alone cannot bear the financial burden of establishing a robust and efficient waste management system.
Speaking on JoyNews, Mr Kyerematen said, "I have said several times, even during government, that let us introduce incentives and get the private sector to finance the infrastructure required, whether for waste management, for building roads, or for building airports."
"The government does not need to borrow to deal with our waste," he added on Tuesday, June 25.
He emphasised that the private sector possesses the financial resources, technology, and management expertise necessary to effectively assist in waste management.
“Why is the government interested in controlling that sector when you do not have the resources, you do not have the skills, you do not have anything?”
