Ever since the election petition process began, there have been so many issues that have come up for discussions, both for and against.
Whereas the supporters of the petitioners always see something important and are confident of winning the pending case at the Supreme Court, (SC), the supporters of the respondents always see everything wrong with the case.
In fact, different people who are against the petition have described it in various terms.
I would not like to bore you with the repetition of some of the words and expressions they use, but for the benefit of those who did not hear or read some of them, I would quote few for you.
'Useless, senseless, no good evidence, waste of time and resources, stupid, national wreckage, tension creation, driving of investors away’, and the most common of them all by General Mosquito, Asiedu Nkatia who is in the witness box now , 'Any idiot can go to court'.
Almost all the respondents' supporters were against the live telecast of the court hearing. Some of the reasons those who are against the petition gave were that it will drive investors away, contributes to low productivity and creates political tension in the country.
I will express my views on the driving away of investors. I guess if the judges would be fair, firm, courageous, truthful and professional in their final judgement; that would rather bring many investors to Ghana.
The investors would feel comfortable and confident in our law courts to judge rightly if they have a problem with anyone in Ghana. They will also know that, Ghanaians are law abiding and peaceful people who resort to the courts for judgments if they are aggrieved with any matter.
I guess after this court case, Ghana elections would change for the better due to the issues raised so far.
This petition has also taught many people issues concerning the courts and the process of elections in Ghana.
So I feel Ghanaians should see the ongoing court case as a good thing rather than bad.
God bless Ghana.
