Emirates has expressed relief following the safe return of Sylvia Patience Baah, an employee allegedly kidnapped outside her residence in Accra on November 21.
The incident, which sparked widespread concern, led to a police investigation and raised questions about the potential involvement of national security operatives.
In a statement issued on November 25, 2024, an Emirates spokesperson said: “We are relieved that our colleague is safe and unharmed.
"We are providing her with all possible support, and would like to request the media to please respect our colleague’s privacy and give her the space to heal.”
The Ghana Police Service, which announced the investigation into Mrs Baah’s disappearance, revealed that she was found and has since reunited with her family.
However, a report by The Herald alleged the involvement of individuals within the national security framework in her abduction.
The Ministry of National Security has strongly denied these allegations, describing them as baseless.
In its press release, the Ministry stated, “No officer from the Ministry or the National Intelligence Bureau was involved in the alleged abduction of Sylvia Baah.”
The Ministry further assured the public that investigations were ongoing and promised that anyone found culpable would face the full force of the law.
The incident has drawn attention to the broader issue of security and accountability in Ghana.
While Emirates has focused on supporting Mrs Baah and respecting her privacy, the allegations against national security operatives have sparked debate and demands for transparency as investigations continue.
As the authorities work to resolve the case, both the Emirates and the Ministry of National Security are calling for calm and urging the public to avoid speculative conclusions.
The resolution of this matter is expected to provide clarity and potentially uncover the full circumstances surrounding Mrs Baah’s alleged kidnapping.
