The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, has revealed that he convened a strategic meeting with key stakeholders in Ghana’s upstream petroleum sector to align priorities and refine plans for the period ahead.
In a social media post on Thursday, April 1, the Minister stated that the meeting brought together major institutions, including the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), the Petroleum Commission, the Office of the Attorney-General, and the Ministry of Finance.
According to Dr Jinapor, discussions at the meeting were both insightful and forward-looking, with a strong emphasis on strengthening Ghana’s upstream petroleum sector.

He noted that stakeholders also explored ways to enhance the country’s fiscal and regulatory regime while promoting sustainable growth across the industry.
A major concern highlighted during the engagement was the need to attract increased investment into the sector, particularly to address declining petroleum reserves.

The Minister stressed the importance of boosting exploration and production activities as a critical step towards reversing the trend and securing Ghana’s energy future.

Dr Jinapor expressed confidence that the outcomes of the meeting would translate into concrete and impactful actions.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to building a more resilient and progressive upstream petroleum landscape that supports long-term national development.
