Gospel musician SP Kofi Sarpong could not hold back his tears when he joined members of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) to pay tribute to the late Kojo Asare Baffuor Acheampong, popularly known as KABA.

During the visit, Bice Osei Kuffour (Obour), MUSIGA president, disclosed that they are ready to support KABA’s family and The Multimedia Group in any way they can for his funeral.

“Whatever is expected of musicians too we are ready. Already I’ve heard some musicians, some have sent me messages, that they think we should do a tribute song. I don’t think it is not out of place,” Obour said.

He noted that they hope to record the song in time for the late presenter’s funeral.

Describing KABA as “unbiased,” he noted that, “KABA was not a journalist only in Ghana; he was a great journalist.”

Apart from SP Kofi Sarpong, Obour was accompanied by some executives of MUSIGA including Rev. Thomas Harry Yawson, Second Vice President; and Ahuma Ocansey (Daddy Bosco), Director of Communications and Special Projects.

KABA died on arrival at the Korle-bu Teaching Hospital where he was rushed after he fell sick early Saturday.

The late 37-year-old left behind a wife, Valentina Ofori Agyei, also a broadcaster with Accra-based Class FM and a seven-month-old daughter.

Until his death, KABA was the host of Asempa FM’s flagship afternoon political programme, ‘Ekosii Sen’.
