Kirani Ayat calls out Akufo-Addo, Tourism Ministry after promo video featured shots from his ‘Guda’ visuals https://www.myjoyonline.com/kirani-ayat-calls-out-akufo-addo-tourism-ministry-after-promo-video-featured-shots-from-his-guda-visuals/ https://www.myjoyonline.com/kirani-ayat-calls-out-akufo-addo-tourism-ministry-after-promo-video-featured-shots-from-his-guda-visuals/#respond Tue, 27 Sep 2022 11:45:00 +0000 https://www.myjoyonline.com/?p=10032177703 Musician Kirani Ayat and video producer David Nicol-Sey have called out the Tourism Ministry for using their footage in a new promotional video without their consent.

The video shared on President Akufo-Addo’s Twitter page sees him call on people especially in the diaspora to make Ghana their destination for Tourism.

The two-minute video featured different scenes from different parts of the country and a voice-over by the President encouraging tourism.

However, in the video were also shots from the VGMA and 3Music nominated video for the song ‘Guda’ released in 2018 by Kirani Ayat.

The video directed by David Nicol-Sey was shot mainly in the Northern part of Ghana showcasing the culture and the beauty.

Kirani Ayat who was not pleased to see his work used without his consent noted that he spent his all in making the video without aid from anyone and yet he was not compensated after his content was used.

“The president of Ghana has used my video “GUDA” in this ad to promote Ghana. I was actively reaching out to the Ministry of Tourism in 2018/19 to use this video to push tourism in the North and got NO reply, yet today it’s in an ad and no one reached out to me for permission,” he wrote.

Kirani Ayat added that “whoever worked on this video should’ve reached out to the rightful content owners before proceeding. I spent my all in making GUDA possible, I’m sure you were paid for this job, where is my cut?”

The musician added that he worked as a security guard for three months to earn money to shoot the video.

“I worked 7 days a week from 7 pm to 7 am for 3 months straight as a security guard just to save up to make this “GUDA” video possible. Various awards shows snubbed it, the Ministry ignored it, and I reached out a couple of times to no avail. I was depressed throughout that period.”

Meanwhile, the director David Nicol-Sey also on Twitter stated that creatives deserve to get paid for their content especially when they had no help from anyone when making their content.

“Creatives struggle to create content with their last dime with zero support from @NAkufoAddo and @MOTACGhana. Did your team reach out to the content owners for authorisation before using @KiraniAYAT’s GUDA and @FuseODG’s African girl in promoting your “visit ghana” campaign?”

From stage design and sound to artistes’ craft and delivery, audiences both at the Black Star Square and at home were enamoured by the event.

First of all, every single artiste that graced the stage on Saturday at the Black Star Square in Accra gave off some of the best performances Ghanaians have witnessed in the past years.

Stonebwoy, Gyakie and Sarkodie are three performers Ghana has loved since their debut into the industry.

Reggae/Dancehall artiste Stonebwoy has always been known as one that slays a live performance and if the appreciation on the grounds is anything to go by, he lived by his tag.

Gyakie never disappointed delivering one of her best performances on the Global Citizen stage.

Sarkodie’s performance of back to back hits like Original, Illuminati, Pizza and Burger among others had the crowd going crazy with many labelling this as one of his best performances ever.

Tems gets the crowd going

Nigerian singer Tems got the crowd singing to her every song including Damages, Crazy Tings and Essence.

Stormzy pays homage to Daddy Lumba, and brings Yaw Tog and Kwesi Arthur on stage

Stormzy for the first time performed in Ghana at the Global Citizen Festival. The British rapper had the crowd sing along to songs like Heavy is the Head, Own It and Blinded by Your Grace.

In honour of his first performance in Ghana, the rapper paid homage to legendary Highlife artiste Daddy Lumba. He wore a t-shirt with the faces of the revered musician in his prime printed on the front.

He also surprised the thousands at the Black Star Square when he introduced Yaw Toga and subsequently Kwesi Arthur to the stage for the ‘Sore Remix’ performance.

SZA touched on her first trip to Africa

There had been some speeches before SZA’s performance. The crowd had slightly dispersed and tuned out while waiting for the next performance.

But the R&B singer/songwriter’s presence on stage drew screams and shouts from the audience. Many who were taking breaks or buying stuff rushed to join others to witness SZA’s brilliant performance.

The singer said she was taken back by the warm welcome she has received since coming to Ghana – her first trip to Africa.

She also noted that being the first time in Africa she feared the crowd may not know her or her songs – a statement that got cheers and “we know you” choruses from the crowd.

Kojo Manuel and DJ Mic Smith entertain the crowd with Ghanaian classics.

Between breaks, Kojo Manuel and DJ Mic Smith come on stage to entertain the crowd while the organisers set the stage for the next performer. During the long wait for Usher, DJ Mic Smith alongside Kojo Manuel acting as host played back to back classics from VIP, Shatta Wale, Mzbel, Samini, and many hits from the 2000-2010 era.

Usher brings Oxlade, Tiwa Savage and Pheelz to perform

Usher stunned the crowd with his performance. He opened with ‘Caught Up’ then performed many hits including ‘Party’, ‘My Way’, ‘Confession’, ‘Burn’ and ‘Nice and Slow’.

He then surprised the audience when he called on to the stage three Nigerian artistes.

Oxlade was the first and performed ‘Ku Lo Sa’ then Tiwa Savaged graced the stage to perform ‘Somebody’s Son’ and lastly Pheelz entertained the crowd with ‘Finesse’.

Usher performs with DWP Academy

For his final set of songs, dancers from DWP Academy, co-founded by popular dancers Dancegod Llyod and Afrobeats joined Usher on stage.

The choreography for the performance was created by Afrobeats.

Recognise effort of investors – Kwesi Ernest tells artistes https://www.myjoyonline.com/recognise-effort-of-investors-kwesi-ernest-tells-artistes/ https://www.myjoyonline.com/recognise-effort-of-investors-kwesi-ernest-tells-artistes/#respond Mon, 26 Sep 2022 15:01:39 +0000 https://www.myjoyonline.com/?p=10032177159 Artiste manager Kwesi Ernest has urged Ghanaian artistes to recognise the efforts made by investors in improving their craft.

Speaking to Roselyn Felli on Prime Morning Friday, he stated that investors have experienced a torrent of ungratefulness from most artistes in Ghana’s music industry.

According to him, some musicians become ungrateful to investors after becoming famous.

“It is important that our musicians recognise the effort of investors. I see that the issue that came about has to that most of the investors were a bit emotional and so they did not involve contractual obligations into their activities,” he said.

He believes that engaging in contractual agreements will enable the Ghanaian music industry to become healthier while admitting that everyone will receive an equal share of the benefits.

Also, the entertainment pundit admonished musicians to stop being proud when their music is invested in and to express gratitude to the executive producers for their works.

“Once you get an opportunity and somebody is putting money on you, don’t ever imagine that you’re the best singer Ghana has ever produced or that your voice is the sweetest…” he added.

Kwesi Ernest affirmed that the fame of recently trending musicians, including Black Sherrif, Wendy Shay, and Camidoh, among others, is dependent on the effort of investors.

According to him, artistes who fund their own songs have testified that investors are doing excellent work in establishing upcoming musicians.

He indicated that the emotional nature of some investors is also a contributory factor to musicians expressing ungratefulness.

He further urged music investors to put money into the craft of innovative and talented artistes.

“Let’s invest in creative people. Let’s invest in talent. Do not go to invest in an artiste in the name of ‘I’m going to help you. No, you can’t help any musicians. It’s business,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Kwesi Ernest, who is also the head of events for the 6th edition of the Ghana Music Awards UK 2022, has announced that the event is open for sponsorship.

The GMA UK 2022 comes off on Saturday, October 29, 2022, in London.

We’re learning more about Afrobeats amid push for category in Grammys – Recording Academy CEO https://www.myjoyonline.com/were-learning-more-about-afrobeats-amid-push-of-category-in-grammys-recording-academy-ceo/ https://www.myjoyonline.com/were-learning-more-about-afrobeats-amid-push-of-category-in-grammys-recording-academy-ceo/#respond Mon, 26 Sep 2022 12:25:55 +0000 https://www.myjoyonline.com/?p=10032177079 The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Recording Academy, organisers of the Grammy Awards, has said there is a possibility the event will in the near future have a category for Afrobeats.

Speaking to the media on his arrival in Ghana, Harvey Mason Jr, noted that the Recording Academy recently had a meeting with leaders of the Afrobeats community including producers, songwriters, executives and others to learn more about the genre – and will continue to do so.

“We just talked about what are the different sub-genres (of Afrobeasts), the needs, the desires, and my goal is to represent all genres of music including Afrobeats at the Grammys but it has to be done properly,” Mr Mason said.

He explained that as the CEO of the Recording Academy, he cannot solely decide whether to create a category for a genre or not – members of the academy must submit a proposal.

“So, the process has started,” Mr Mason stated, adding that the Academy will continue to have fruitful conversations with the Afrobeats creators among others during the process.

Meanwhile, the Recording Academy CEO is expected to meet players in the Ghana music industry to discuss the country’s growth in music and others.

He noted that he is hoping to learn more about Ghana music’s ecosystem, royalty system, and monetisation, among others.

Afrobeats in the past few years has become a global phenomenon with many music lovers and creators worldwide exploring the world of African music.

With the growth of the genre on a constant rise, the British Official Charts Company published on its site the UK Afrobeats Singles Chart in 2020 following the rising popularity of Afrobeats music and artists in the United Kingdom.

In March 2022, the renowned music charts company Billboard also published their Afrobeats Songs Chart.

Among others, Afrobeats acts like Burna Boy and Wizkid have had a number of nominations in the Grammy Awards (Best Global Music Album) with their studio albums.

Artistes like Chris Brown, Justin Beiber, Sam Smith, Ed Sheeran, Selena Gomez and many others have all worked with a number of Afrobeats stars.

Rihanna to headline 2023 Super Bowl Halftime show https://www.myjoyonline.com/rihanna-to-headline-2023-super-bowl-halftime-show/ https://www.myjoyonline.com/rihanna-to-headline-2023-super-bowl-halftime-show/#respond Mon, 26 Sep 2022 11:15:16 +0000 https://www.myjoyonline.com/?p=10032177042 Rihanna has slyly affirmed that she will be performing at the Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show in Feb. 2023. Roc Nation also officially confirmed the singer’s participation through a statement released on Sunday.

The singer shared a picture of an NFL-branded football on her Instagram. The post came amid reports that the singer was “in talks” to headline the next Halftime Show.

The game, which typically draws one of the biggest single TV audiences of the year, is scheduled to be played at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. on Feb. 12.

“Rihanna is a generational talent, a woman of humble beginnings who has surpassed expectations at every turn,” said Jay-Z in the official announcement. “A person born on the small island of Barbados who became one of the most prominent artists ever. Self-made in business and entertainment.”

Although having Rihanna as a Halftime headliner is a logical conclusion on the Roc Nation front, the singer has not released an album since 2016.

She has commented vaguely about two different albums in the years since (and been photographed coming in and out of recording studios), with one being described as a dancehall album. However, details remain scarce.

Regardless, the announcement was enough to rile up fans of the R&B singer, who hope her primetime appearance means a new album is finally on the way. Rihanna was also offered to headline the 2019 Halftime show but turned down the offer in a decision to show solidarity with Colin Kaepernick.

“We are thrilled to welcome Rihanna to the Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show stage. Rihanna is a once-in-a-generation artist who has been a cultural force throughout her career,” Seth Dudowsky, NFL’s head of music, said in a statement. “We look forward to collaborating with Rihanna, Roc Nation and Apple Music to bring fans another historic Halftime Show performance.”

The Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show will be telecast and produced by DPS. Roc Nation and Jesse Collins serve as executive producers and Hamish Hamilton serves as director. Roc Nation is also serving as the strategic entertainment advisors of the live performance.

“Rihanna is an incredible recording artist who is a favorite for many millions of Apple Music customers around the world,” said Oliver Schusser, Apple’s vice president of Apple Music and Beats.

“We’re excited to partner with Rihanna, Roc Nation and the NFL to bring music and sports fans a momentous show — what an incredible artist for the inaugural Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show.”

This is the first year that Apple Music will serve as a sponsor for the halftime show, replacing the NFL’s longtime partner Pepsi. The NFL announced the move last week at midnight, which had fans hypothesizing that Taylor Swift would be a potential headliner due to Swift’s connection to the hour (Her forthcoming album is called “Midnights”).

That was later disproved by sources close to Swift, who spoke to both People and TMZ and alleged that, although she had been approached by the NFL in the past, the pop phenom had turned down the offer.

In May, Pepsi officially renounced its title as a halftime show sponsor, choosing to walk away from a decade-long association that transformed the event from a lineup of primarily rock musicians like Bruce Springsteen and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers in favor of a new group of artists aiming at the younger generations that advertisers and the NFL seek to court.

The NFL was said to be seeking significantly higher annual payments for the sponsorship rights. According to a press release issued by the league, the contract with the software company is a multi-year deal.

Apple has in recent months shown a greater interest in sports. Its streaming platform has started new deals with Major League Baseball and Major League Soccer to show games to subscribers. Sports rights have long been the province of traditional media companies like Fox, Disney, Paramount Global and NBCUniversal, but technology companies like Apple and Amazon have made a bigger play for those rights as they seek to bring in consumers to their broadband subscription-video services.

Amazon, for its part, is now a major NFL partner thanks to its control of rights to “Thursday Night Football.”

Earlier this year, the Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show assembled a star-studded crew of artists including Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar. The performance achieved five Creative Arts Emmy nominations and won three Creative Arts Emmys, including outstanding live variety special — a first-ever for the Halftime show.

Past Super Bowl Halftime Show performances include the Weeknd, Jennifer Lopez, Shakira, Justin Timberlake, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, Prince, Madonna and more.

Apple Music will be offering sneak peeks of its Halftime ideas via its social handle on TikTok, Instagram and Twitter.

Netflix warns viewers about ‘Dahmer’ being ‘too disturbing’ https://www.myjoyonline.com/netflix-warns-viewers-about-dahmer-being-too-disturbing/ https://www.myjoyonline.com/netflix-warns-viewers-about-dahmer-being-too-disturbing/#respond Sun, 25 Sep 2022 08:53:09 +0000 https://www.myjoyonline.com/?p=10032176641 With many viewers not even able to get through the first episode, Netflix has warned users about the graphic nature of their new Jeffrey Dahmer series.

Dahmer was convicted of the murder of 17 men and boys between 1978 and 1991. He also ate the flesh of some of his victims.

Many viewers underestimated how graphic the series could be.

Some viewers also pointed out that most of Dahmer’s victims were LGBTQ+ POC.

The series explores the aforementioned detail in a manner few have done before.

Rashad Robinson, one of the show’s producers, said that “Dahmer” is also a story about victims, and the impact that his gruesome actions, added to ignorance by the authorities, impacted the community.

“At its core, this is a story of deep and systemic injustice, of people who were harmed and all the ways in which society failed them,” Robinson explained.

Jazz legend Pharoah Sanders dies aged 81 https://www.myjoyonline.com/jazz-legend-pharoah-sanders-dies-aged-81/ https://www.myjoyonline.com/jazz-legend-pharoah-sanders-dies-aged-81/#respond Sat, 24 Sep 2022 18:20:50 +0000 https://www.myjoyonline.com/?p=10032176607 Jazz great Pharoah Sanders, who pushed the boundaries of saxophone playing, has died aged 81.

His record label Luaka Bop announced the news, saying he had died “peacefully”, surrounded by family and friends in Los Angeles.

Sanders was a leading figure in what is often called spiritual jazz, which took influences from Asian and African traditions.

His expressive style made him a sought-after musical collaborator.

Born as Farrell Sanders in Little Rock, Arkansas, in 1940, the saxophonist began his career in Oakland, California before moving to New York in the early 1960s.

There he collaborated with Sun Ra, who is believed to have encouraged Sanders to take the name Pharoah.

He joined John Coltrane’s band and performed with him on stage and in the studio.

Another free jazz great, Ornette Coleman, said Sanders was “probably the best tenor player in the world”.

Sanders released several albums, with his debut, Pharoah’s First, landing in 1965.

In an interview he said: “I want my sound to be like a fragrance that people will like – something fresh, like the smell of your grandmother’s cake cooking.”

In 2021 he collaborated with British electronic musician Sam Shepherd, who records under the name Floating Points.

Their work, Promises, was recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra and nominated for the Mercury Prize.

Paying tribute to Sanders on Twitter, Shepherd said: “I am so lucky to have known this man, and we are all blessed to have his art stay with us forever. Thank you Pharoah.”

GITFiC launches book on AfCFTA https://www.myjoyonline.com/gitfic-launches-book-on-afcfta-2/ https://www.myjoyonline.com/gitfic-launches-book-on-afcfta-2/#respond Sat, 24 Sep 2022 15:32:47 +0000 https://www.myjoyonline.com/?p=10032176534 To actualize the dreams of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and keep it afloat, the Ghana International Trade and Finance (GITFiC) has taken a step further to launch a handbook to enable the business community of Africa understand the practicalities.

The book; ‘Actualising the African Economic Vision; A practical handbook on the AfCFTA’, which was launched at the Pacific Alliance Embassy in Accra received high patronage and would serve as the guideline for African leaders, the Academia, Trade and Finance community and all other patrons of the AfCFTA worldwide.

In his welcome address, Mr Selasi Koffi Ackom, Chief Executive Officer of GITFiC said it took a great deal of work with several consultations, in-depth analysis, and references to come out with the final product.

“This journey began for us when we took the 3rd conference to the Headquarters of the African Union Addis Ababa in 2019 and succeeded in getting a number of stakeholders from the four corners of the continent to the 3rd conference, including; Finance Ministers, UNECA, Trade & Development Bank in Kenya. ECOWAS Bank in Lome, Afrexim Bank in Egypt, Trade Ministers, Finance and Trade Experts, Agric, Aviation et al”.

He said in 2020, they brought Chief Trade Negotiators, Deans of Premier Universities and Senior Media men and women from Africa back to Accra to advance the conversation on the AfCFTA, when Accra was officially declared the Commercial Capital.

“Rightly so because Accra hosts the AfCFTA secretariat and has a rich history of both colonial and present, cross border trade emergence and also as the first country in Africa, south of the Sahara to gain independence.

He said in 2021 they brought monetary and financial magnets from Central Banks in Africa to major stakeholders to discuss the Pan African Payment and Settlement System and its regulatory antecedents, where President Akufo-Addo gave the Keynote address through Vice President Mahamadu Bawumia.

He said It was revealed in sections of the survey report that literature on the AfCFTA were missing and despite the gross interest in the subject matter by the public, almost nothing concrete was there to read more so, in a simplified form.

Mr Ackom said the book was inspired by all Heads of State on the African Continent and the advent of the AfCFTA had received substantial interest and set forth a renewed sense of optimism and conviction that seeks to propel Africa into the league of global trade powerhouse.

He said the book was expected to reach every educational complex on the continent through the help of State Agencies, Continental Institutions with requisite funding and Corporate Africa at large.

“This book has been devoid of large leaflets and content. The main aim here is to encourage reading and attract same. The book comprises 10 chapters however; these 10 chapters give a complete understanding of the AfCFTA and its functional implementation structures and practically expose the reader to the opportunities within the AfCFTA with an insight of Ghana’s strategy into the AfCFTA. MSMEs were your excluded.

“The book has diagrams, info-graphics and photos to spice reading and give a pictorial meaning to the context and content and is currently in two languages; English and French and the African Union has recommended for our immediate attention to have the book translated in all recognized languages by the Union in a message sent to us on September 7th, 2022. These languages include; Arabic, Kiswahili, Portuguese and Spanish.”

He said plans were afoot to translate it into Spanish, Arabic and Portuguese in the coming weeks.

He commended Ambassador Albert Muchanga, Mr. Nyame-Baafi, Mr. Bernard Afreh, Mr Tsornam Akpeloo and several other Chief Trade Negotiators who contributed to the practical book in diverse ways.

Madam Claudia Turbay Quintero, Colombian Ambassador on behalf of the Pacific Alliance Embassy made up of Colombia, Mexico, Peru and Chile, said the launch of the book was an opportunity for the alliance to work hand-in hand with GITFiC and AfCFTA.

She said they were forming an internal integration and that would be extended to Ghana and AfCFTA in general adding “we want to go closer to Africa.”

Mr Bernard Afreh, Lead Consultant for GITFiC said the launch of the AfCFTA and the book would enhance trade and economies of Africa in succeeding and improve the lives of over 1.5 billion people.

He appealed to financial institutions and Commercial and Trade communities to make good use of the literature contained in the book.

Other speakers at the programme included Mr Tsonam Akpeloo, Greater Accra Regional Chairman of Association of Ghana Industries, Mr. Anthony Nyame-Baafi, Immediate Past Chief Negotiator for Ghana, Honorable Joe Ghartey, Member of Parliament for Essikao-Ketan in the Western Region, and Ambassador Albert Muchanga.

Over 6000 copies of the book which has a street cover price of GHS 100 were sold at the launch. Before her interview on Hitz FM, some fans had sent it messages to ask the Holland-based artiste why it has taken her so long to release a collaboration she did with the ‘Therapy’ hitmaker.

According to her, she was supposed to drop an EP but was not able to do so because she is not ready.

“The song is there, I was supposed to drop an EP back then but I decided not to drop the EP because I just felt like I wasn’t ready. I have a lot of songs with Ghanaian artists but they are just not out there, I’m just not ready” she told Doreen Avio on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM.

She stated that she wants to put herself out there in the industry before she can start releasing all songs with other artists.

She noted that she barely released music in the past few years and for her only features, she was not too ok adding that the video they shot also got old and she didn’t like the make-up and also wanted to reshoot the video hence she didn’t release the song at all.

“The video got old, you know how women are, back then I liked the makeup but now I don’t like the makeup and it takes time and money to shoot a new video, so it’s just time, basically but hopefully beginning next year I will release it,” she explained

She revealed that she has collaborations with several artists which are not out yet but hoping to get all release next year.

Nana Fofie became popular in 2018 after her numerous cover videos on YouTube went viral.

Her talent caught the eye of American superstar Nicki Minaj and Nicki seems to be a big fan of the young musician.

Nana Fofie was one of the opening acts on Nicki Minaj’s tour stop in Holland in March 2019.

According to him, the last time he saw his son was when the boy was about two years old adding that the singer has not allowed him to see his kid since then.

Speaking to Afia Tamakloe on the M’ahyease TV show, Pastor Love said that because he wants to have a relationship with his child, he has sought to use other means to get her to change her mind especially since she has custody of all their three children.

He stated that over the years he chose to be patient and urges close associates to speak to Obaapa Christy but she is yet to heed their advice.

Pastor Love said that he did not want to pursue a custody battle or use other means to see his children because he does not want to make a big problem out of the issue.

He said that consistently he had to pull a brake on taking the case further.

But the Action Grace Chapel Head Pastor noted that if Obaapa Christy continues to create a barrier between him and his child, he will be forced to seek other means which may unearth more problems.

The couple was married for 4 years before finally separating with quite an unpleasant divorce in court.

Meanwhile, this is not the first time Pastor Love has expressed his pleasure at the rate at which he sees his children.

In 2019, shortly after Obaapa Christy’s remarriage, Pastor Love demanded to have custody of their children after claiming they were being maltreated.

Tiffany Haddish says she lost all her gigs after abuse claim https://www.myjoyonline.com/tiffany-haddish-says-she-lost-all-her-gigs-after-abuse-claim/ https://www.myjoyonline.com/tiffany-haddish-says-she-lost-all-her-gigs-after-abuse-claim/#respond Fri, 23 Sep 2022 16:50:00 +0000 https://www.myjoyonline.com/?p=10032176191 Following a notice of dismissal filed by the plaintiffs for a lawsuit involving allegations of molestation against comedians Tiffany Haddish and Aries Spears, Haddish says the suit has cost her work.

The “Girls Trip” star talked to TMZ about the aftermath of her and Spears being accused of having “groomed and molested” two then-minor siblings years ago in a lawsuit originally filed earlier this month in Los Angeles Superior Court.

“I lost everything,” she told a TMZ photographer when she was questioned at LAX airport on Wednesday. “All my gigs are gone.”

The complainants were referred to as “Jane Doe” and “John Doe” in the suit, which stated their names are being withheld to protect their privacy.

According to the complaint, a copy of which was obtained by CNN, “Jane Doe” and “John Doe” were 14 and 7, respectively, when Haddish and Spears allegedly had them participate in sexually suggestive videos in separate incidents in 2013 and 2014.

The pair are siblings and Haddish was a “longtime family friend” of their mother. The incidents allegedly occurred while Haddish was supposedly trying to help the youngsters get into show business, according to the suit.

At the time the suit was filed, an attorney for Haddish said in a statement to CNN that the plaintiff’s mother “has been trying to assert these bogus claims against Ms. Haddish for several years.”

“Every attorney who has initially taken on her case — and there were several — ultimately dropped the matter once it became clear that the claims were meritless and Ms Haddish would not be shaken down,” the statement read, adding that the mother “has her adult daughter representing herself in this lawsuit. The two of them will together face the consequences of pursuing this frivolous action.”

Jane Doe filed a notice of dismissal Tuesday and the case was dismissed with prejudice based on documentation provided to CNN by a representative for Haddish.

Dismissal with prejudice means the case cannot be refiled.

“My family and I have known Tiffany Haddish for many years — and we now know that she would never harm me or my brother or help anyone else do anything that could harm us,” Doe said in a statement to TMZ. “We wish Tiffany the best and are glad that we can all put this behind us.”

CNN has reached out to “Jane Doe” for comment. Attorneys for Haddish and Spears have not responded to CNN’s requests for comment.

When asked by TMZ if she thought the dismissal might help her, Haddish responded, “I don’t know, bro. I don’t have no job.”

In a separate TMZ video, the actress said she was “concerned about the kids and making sure they were OK,” adding she felt “relieved” the lawsuit has been withdrawn and does not talk to Spears.

Speaking in an interview with Doreen Avio on Daybreak Hitz, Mr. Okraku-Mantey described the seeming competition between the two West African countries as “outmoded.”

According to Okraku-Mantey, the musical relationship between Ghana and Nigeria is one that has to be protected since it is an envious one amongst other African countries.

“I hear this conversation on Ghana and Nigeria. Are we not tired of asking the same question for far too long? The truth is that the thing between Ghana and Nigeria is outmoded.

“We are supposed to talk about how our collaborations can us forward and not the competition between Ghana and Nigeria.”

He went on to refer to the African Continental Free Trade Area signed in 2018.

“We have signed a treaty called the African continental free trade area which means that Africans are supposed to work together. Now we are even breaking the boundaries of the countries. 55 countries signed this treaty and Ghana signed first.”

Mr. Mark Okraku Mantey believes the conversation about who is better between these two countries has to be put to rest.

He believes that all energies should be channeled toward pushing collaborations amongst other African countries.

“I think I am here to make that conversation rest. Let’s begin to think of how to do more things together to compete against other parts of the world.”

In an interview, DJ Cuppy said that many of the guys she has found herself dating are more interested in her father, billionaire Femi Otedola, than in her.

She explained that she does not want to be in a relationship where people are fixated on her father instead of the relationship they are building.

“Back home, I feel like so many guys don’t want me, they want my dad. They just love my dad. I met a guy recently and the next thing he asked me was, ‘so when am I going to meet your dad.’ I was shocked,” DJ Cuppy said.

She added that “I have met guys in the UK; when I tell them that I am from Nigeria, they ask me what village, I know the person is not really Nigerian…I want someone to love me a lot and be happy and my dad would be like a by-product.”

This is not DJ Cuppy’s first time talking about relationships, her struggles and what she looks for in a partner.

Earlier in August 2022, she noted that she needed a partner that compliments her.

“I really think I have to find a partner that compliments me but still pushes me and is better at some things than I am, so they can inspire me to improve myself as a person,” DJ Cuppy wrote in a post on Instagram.

Pastor Love Kweku Hammond insists that even though he wrote eight of the musician’s songs, no profits have come to him.

“I think I wrote 8 songs for my [ex] wife,” he said, adding that the structures back then were not favourable in tracking revenues.

He was speaking to Afia Tamakloe on the M’ahyease TV show.

“I can say that at that time, music wasn’t fetching money. We were not making money at that time. We gave the song to someone to produce it, the reason we didn’t make money They say there is something called royalties but nothing came out of it. There was no money,” he said.

According to Pastor Love, his prowess in songwriting helped catapult his former wife, then-Christiana Love, into the stellar career she has seen so far.

The duo has been apart for about 11 years.

However, Pastor Love says he has about four artistes he is currently working with to help promote in the music scene.

Africans needed to see themselves on TV – Kojo Yankah shares inspiration behind ‘Inspector Bediako’ https://www.myjoyonline.com/africans-needed-to-see-themselves-on-tv-kojo-yankah-shares-inspiration-behind-inspector-bediako/ https://www.myjoyonline.com/africans-needed-to-see-themselves-on-tv-kojo-yankah-shares-inspiration-behind-inspector-bediako/#respond Fri, 23 Sep 2022 07:39:07 +0000 https://www.myjoyonline.com/?p=10032175857 Founder of the African University College of Communications (AUCC) and creator of the popular ‘Inspector Bediako’ TV series, says it is important that Africans see themselves on the screen.

Kojo Yankah shared the drive for producing one of the best and sole locally produced law enforcement programmes in the early 90s.

In an interview with Y107.9 FM’s Y Leaderboard Series, he disclosed that his passion for writing factored in the creator of ‘Inspector Bediako’, but most importantly, the desire to change the narrative and allow Africans “see themselves on television sets.”

“I’m happy that DStv came on board and said they wanted to show Inspector Bediako. It’s one of the things I created. It was just like writing a book. I created it because I thought Africans should see themselves on television.

“We used to watch a lot of detective series. I asked myself that we also do detective work. Our Police haven’t gotten to that level so I’ll use technology into a fiction space and create an Inspector Bediako,” he told host Rev Erskine.

Africans needed to see themselves on TV - Kojo Yankah shares inspiration behind ‘Inspector Bediako’

On choosing the name, he added, “I chose the name for a reason. Bediako is one who likes fighting so he fights against social ills, indiscipline, corruption, bribery and stuff like that. I created Bediako to be the one who is now going to fight all these social ills.

“It was late in the early 90s and again we got private sponsorship from a number of companies. They were fighting among themselves to sponsor and at first, it was like will this survive? An African TV, detective series then it got on. Even children when you send any child in the afternoon they’d probably forget because they’re going to watch Inspector Bediako.”

Mr Yankah reiterated that the series later got suspended after he chased his political ambition.

“Because I went into parliament and politics time didn’t allow me to further the narrative. There were other people directing it but it didn’t get the kind of gravitas it had so it got suspended,” he said.

‘Inspector Bediakor’ after its launching in Accra on March 24 1993 gave the country a unique feel of Black Excellence.

The 30-minute episodes featured the likes of Oscar Provencal as the lead actor, Akosua Abdallah, Gloria Nsia Ababio (Dela), Martin Owusu (Bentle) and Teiko.

Later last year, in December 2021 the detective movie had a remake with new faces in the industry.

Camidoh’s aspirations compared to other artistes I’ve managed are high – George Britton https://www.myjoyonline.com/camidohs-aspirations-compared-to-other-artistes-ive-managed-are-high-george-britton/ https://www.myjoyonline.com/camidohs-aspirations-compared-to-other-artistes-ive-managed-are-high-george-britton/#respond Thu, 22 Sep 2022 15:18:00 +0000 https://www.myjoyonline.com/?p=10032175377 Artiste manager George Britton is comparing the artistes he has managed for over a decade, and according to him, the aspirations of his current artiste Camidoh, supersede the others he has managed.

George Britton, who doubles as a publicist and CEO of GB Interactive Limited (a media company), has over 13 years of experience in artiste management and has managed the likes of music duo Keche, Akoo Nana, Dr Knii Lante etc.

In an interview on the ‘Xclusives’ show on Joy Prime, he was asked about the distinctive difference between his current artiste Camidoh, and the others he has managed in the past.

“Camidoh’s case is a bit different. He sees himself as that artiste who wants to be known around the continent. His aspirations are high, he wants to perform at bigger auditoriums in the world, and I think I needed such challenges to become a better version of myself,” said.

George Britton added that “he makes me a better person in the sense that. I look at him and his hunger and it tells me that he’s good. For his style, I’ll do him a lot of disservice if he remains only here in Ghana. He has got the qualities that can sell, so the plan is to get him out there, and we’re not sleeping.”

In 2010, George Britton managed musician/medical doctor Dr Knii Lante for two years, and oversaw the release of several of his hit songs including ‘Lagos to Vienna’.

He proceeded to manage musician Akoo Nana for four years, and then also managed music duo Keche.

‘Xclusives’ airs on Joy Prime on Saturdays at 3 pm, and on JoyNews at 7:30 pm.

This was after reports of the actress welcoming twins with her husband, Fidelis Anosike in the UK went viral on Wednesday afternoon.

Many expressed immense joy and congratulated the couple, especially with the film star barely a few months after tying the knot with her hubby in a star-studded event.

However, on the film star’s Instagram page, her last post was made six days ago where she shared a throwback photo, wishing her fans, the Zamundans a ‘Happy Throwback Thursday.’

Taking to her Twitter handle on Wednesday night as the reports continue to make waves online, Dominic shared with her fans a GIF with the inscription “fake news”.

Her post elicited mixed reactions as many took to the comment section to berate the height of misinformation bedevilling the society while others hoped for a real celebration soon.

Black Sherif lays his fears and strife bare on ‘Soja’ ahead of upcoming album https://www.myjoyonline.com/black-sherif-lays-his-fears-and-strife-bare-on-soja-ahead-of-upcoming-album/ https://www.myjoyonline.com/black-sherif-lays-his-fears-and-strife-bare-on-soja-ahead-of-upcoming-album/#respond Thu, 22 Sep 2022 09:20:42 +0000 https://www.myjoyonline.com/?p=10032175213 Perspective in its truest form needs not to be forced on an audience to relate. Once again, the 20-year-old seasonal anthem crooner has called another shot and the masses are listening.

Black Sherif, off the heels of a tremendous start of the year, is still aiming for gold with another single.

Dubbed ‘Soja’, the Konongo born released the song on Thursday, September 22 and the cadence is already being touted as impeccable.

Black Sherif lays his fears and strife bare on ‘Soja’ ahead of upcoming album

Blacko feels like he needs to man up for the people. It is at this same intersection where the young act also deliberates on a potential dip in his skyrocketing career, a fear he struggles to shake off.

“I’m too close I can feel it, something is vibrating
“Inside me I’m celebrating…
“But outside them dey kill mee… My own-self dey kill me”

Born Mohammed Ismail Sherif Kwaku Frimpong, the musician even singles out his personal anxiety and inferiority complex. It doesn’t get any literal than this.

At the same point, he feels the need to protect himself in the valley of sanity while daring to traverse the obstacles that fame presents in his way.

For me, it is the charisma in his movement in his viral snippet, the spring in his step and the raw emotion carried in his message.

It has been a year of highs and lows for the superstar; navigating a legal battle and thumping through criticisms that he speaks of in his last chronicle, Kweku The Traveller – a chart-topping hit that one went on to become.

Today, Blacko just took us into another dark place buried under the urge to tell his truth over a Joker Nharnah-produced instrumentation.

Blacko basically brought back ‘Money’ via ‘Soja’ – but now with a face – and everyone knows his name this time around.

Another thing we now know is that the artiste’s album beckons.

Soja happens to be the fourth track on the upcoming album – The Villain I Never Was – scheduled to drop later this year with Kwaku The Traveller and Second Sermon Rmx positioned at 13 and 14th respectively.

A few hours after it’s release, social media already seems to relate to his iniquities, lyric by lyric.

Kaywa believes the group has excelled in their craft over the years and credits their humility for their success

Kaywa told Becky on E vibes that “among many who have come out from me, I can say that one hundred percent, Keche are always back to say thank you. There are many I’ve taught including sound engineers, artises and many others but Keche always comes back to say we appreciate what you did for us.”

Kaywa added that his goal is not only to sign talents but look beyond just talent.

“I don’t sign talents but I sign people who are passionate about what they do, it got to a point they were not even thinking about music, they were just thinking of how to help me to grow, they supported me one hundred percent. I mean these two, that is the first thing I found around them and I just knew that the future is very bright and today we are here.”

Born David Kojo Kyei, is a music producer, sound engineer, and an ordained man of God. His signature tune, ‘I no know what I go talk oo…Ka sɛ Kaywa’ has been heard in many hit songs in Ghana.

He won sound Engineer of the year at Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).He has produced popular works such as Olofofo by Castro, Bibini Ba by Kwabena Kwabena, Niger Bebe by Ruff n Smooth, Kolom and Ma Girl both by Buk Bak, Onyame Nhyira by Sarkodie, Samini’s Where My Baby Dey , Asem’s Bye Bye, Diana Hamilton’s Wasem and many others.

Films are great tools in selling a nation’s identity, tourism – Ama K. Abebrese https://www.myjoyonline.com/films-are-great-tools-in-selling-a-nations-identity-tourism-ama-k-abebrese/ https://www.myjoyonline.com/films-are-great-tools-in-selling-a-nations-identity-tourism-ama-k-abebrese/#respond Tue, 20 Sep 2022 17:51:21 +0000 https://www.myjoyonline.com/?p=10032174513 British-Ghanaian actress Ama K. Abrebrese has highlighted the importance of film in selling a country’s identity and tourism.

According to her, films have so much potential in aiding nation-building; hence, she is encouraging the Ghanaian government to tap into the industry and invest in it.

“I know some people think that film is just for entertainment but the film is more than that. It promotes your country and your culture. People watch films and they will be like I want to go to England and where Harry Porter was filmed because they love Harry Porter.

“So there is so much; films can be used in terms of not only nation building but growing across the diaspora and even promoting tourism,” she said in an interview with Noella Kharyne Yalley on ‘Xclusives.’

She also explained her seeming hiatus off the film scene and, according to her, she has been occupied with a number of exciting projects she is working on.

“I have been producing quite a number of things. When [I am] busy working, I don’t go to events. So I have just been working, I have some exciting things coming up,” she hinted.

Meanwhile, she has called on those who speak ill of Ghanaian films to stop belittling the movies from the industry.

The actress, who has featured in ‘The Burial of Kojo’ ‘A Sting in a Tale’ and many others said, in as much as some people are not fans of Ghanaian films, others love it.

“You don’t have to like my work. It is not my fault that you don’t like everything because it is Ghanaian. Just do not down it. That is my issue.

“Sometimes you find a Ghanaian denigrating somebody’s work which probably the person used their last penny to produce,” Ama K. Abebrese said.

She added that “until you step into a producer or a director’s shoe, you wouldn’t know the sacrifices they’ve made.

“Any producer will tell you the challenges or what they have to go through to get their film made with very little support because of their passion. Just because you do not like it, doesn’t mean somebody won’t love it.”

‘Xclusives’ airs on Joy Prime on Saturdays at 3 pm and on JoyNews at 7:30 pm.

Ghanaians in UK hold their own funeral service for Queen Elizabeth II https://www.myjoyonline.com/ghanaians-in-uk-hold-their-own-funeral-service-for-queen-elizabeth-ii/ https://www.myjoyonline.com/ghanaians-in-uk-hold-their-own-funeral-service-for-queen-elizabeth-ii/#respond Tue, 20 Sep 2022 15:05:24 +0000 https://www.myjoyonline.com/?p=10032174325 On Monday, September 19, the United Kingdom held the final funeral service for its longest-serving monarch, Queen Elizabeth II.

Queen Elizabeth’s coffin came to its final resting place at Windsor after completing its long journey from Balmoral Castle to Edinburgh, then from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall and Westminster Abbey, and then finally to St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.

The state funeral was attended by leaders from across the globe and thousands of mourners lined the streets to pay their final respects to the Queen, after her funeral earlier in the day.

While this was going on, some members of a Ghanaian community in the UK decided to hold their own funeral service for the Queen.

In a video that has gone viral, some people were seen dressed in red and black Ghanaian apparel lining the streets of Conel, in Tottenham, North London.

The front of the building where they stood was decorated with red clothes mostly seen at Ghanaian funerals and lined with chairs also covered in black clothes.

A live band was also set up at the venue playing mainly Highlife-inspired tunes heard at numerous Ghanaian funerals.

The lady who was seemingly part of the organisers urged Ghanaians in London to join them mourn the queen in their own way.

It’s okay to not like Ghanaian films, just don’t denigrate it – Ama K. Abebrese https://www.myjoyonline.com/its-okay-to-not-like-ghanaian-films-just-dont-denigrate-it-ama-k-abebrese/ https://www.myjoyonline.com/its-okay-to-not-like-ghanaian-films-just-dont-denigrate-it-ama-k-abebrese/#respond Tue, 20 Sep 2022 12:18:14 +0000 https://www.myjoyonline.com/?p=10032174221 Actress Ama K. Abebrese has called on those who speak ill of Ghanaian films to stop belittling the movies from the industry.

Speaking on ‘XCLUSIVES’ with Noella Kharyne Yalley, the actress, who has featured in ‘The Burial of Kojo’ ‘A Sting in a Tale’ and many others said, in as much as some people are not fans of Ghanaian films, others love it.

“You don’t have to like my work. It is not my fault that you don’t like everything because it is Ghanaian. Just do not down it. That is my issue. Sometimes you find a Ghanaian denigrating somebody’s work which probably the person used their last penny to produce,” Ama K.

The actress also encouraged individuals who are passionate about producing not to get discouraged by the negativity of people.

“I want to encourage people who are passionate about anything, it does not matter what it is don’t be discouraged,” she said

‘XCLUSIVES’ airs on Joy Prime on Saturdays at 3 pm, and on JoyNews at 7:30 pm.

Ghana has not invested enough in creative arts – Actress Ama Abebrese https://www.myjoyonline.com/ghana-has-not-invested-enough-in-creative-arts-actress-ama-abebrese/ https://www.myjoyonline.com/ghana-has-not-invested-enough-in-creative-arts-actress-ama-abebrese/#respond Tue, 20 Sep 2022 12:16:59 +0000 https://www.myjoyonline.com/?p=10032174272 Actress Ama K. Abebrese says there is no clear decision by the state to resource the creative arts industry to enhance its global competitiveness and exposure.

According to her, it is difficult for anyone to tell the specific identities associated with the sector because government has not invested enough into it.

“In order for you to think of a place and instantly think of their identity, do you know what that means? It means they have invested in promoting that identity. Has there been any serious investment made in Ghana to promote a certain identity?

“Ghanaians do have an identity, I will not say it’s just one thing but as for the reason why you’ll think of Hollywood and think America is as a result of billions of dollars of investments.

“Same goes for India and other parts of the world. Identity is not one thing. Identity could be a few things. I don’t know if Ghana has an identity with arts,” the movie producer told Noella Kharyne Yalley in an interview on Xclusives.

The British-Ghanaian actress observed that just like how India can be noted for their movie industry (Bollywood), or Nigeria for Afrobeats, Ghana cannot be noted for any specific kind of arts because the state has not invested enough in carving a niche for itself in arts.

Other industry players have made a case for an all-around investment in the sector and other thematic areas.

This, they believe, will help to diversify the economy by paying more attention to the creative arts industry, which holds great potential to rake in revenue for the country.

‘Xclusives’ hosted by Noella Kharyne Yalley brings you riveting conversations predominantly on showbiz, with guests from all walks of life; including academia, politics, sports and more.

It airs on Joy Prime on Saturdays at 3 pm, and on JoyNews at 7:30 pm.

I don’t remember the last time I paid for a flight or hotel – Artistes manager George Britton https://www.myjoyonline.com/i-dont-remember-the-last-time-i-paid-for-a-flight-or-hotel-artistes-manager-george-britton/ https://www.myjoyonline.com/i-dont-remember-the-last-time-i-paid-for-a-flight-or-hotel-artistes-manager-george-britton/#respond Tue, 20 Sep 2022 12:15:44 +0000 https://www.myjoyonline.com/?p=10032174270 Artiste manager and publicist George Britton says his experience of managing musicians over the years has been nothing but “very rewarding”.

Mr Britton has managed the likes of musician Akoo Nana, Keche, Dr Knii Lante and currently manages Camidoh.

In an interview on the ‘Xclusives’ show on Joy Prime, he said, “one of the things that makes it exciting is the fact that I don’t even remember the last time I bought a plane ticket for the past ten years.”

“I don’t remember the last time I paid for a hotel in Ghana or elsewhere in the world. I’ve also had the opportunity of meeting Presidents and top people because of music, and we’re still going so it’s so fulfilling,” George Britton said.

When asked to share the point in his artiste’s career that he finds fulfilment as a manager, he said that in his 13 years of managing musicians, he has only felt satisfaction and not fulfilment with his artiste’s progress.

“I haven’t been fulfilled before, but a little bit of satisfaction here and there, yes. Of course, when your music becomes a national hit, and people actually appreciate your song, it feels good. Also, artistes have different goals of success, and I’ve been with all these guys, and I know what they term as success.”

“To some, we were very successful because what we were looking for was a national hit that will resonate with fans from Wa to Accra. I think I did that with Akoo Nana with his ‘Wash and Wear’ song,” he added.

George Britton stated that “in Camidoh’s case, we may have a big song now, but we’re not fulfilled because, just like he dreams, I equally dream. We want to have a wide reach than just Ghana, I think Ghana is small. So, the goal is to be very visible on the African continent, and known on the global market.”

Abebrese has tipped herself as the first Ghanaian to possibly win an Oscar in the next five years.

She observed that with the international feats Ghanaians in the diaspora are attaining in movie industry, she’s certain that a Ghanaian will win the prestigious award.

Speaking on ‘Xclusives’ with Noella Kharyne Yalley in Spain, she said “there are times and seasons. However, do not be surprised if an African, a Ghanaian wins an Oscar.”

“It is going to happen. I am going to win an Oscar. Until it’s done, some people will not believe it,” she stressed.

She added, “Rocky Dawuni was nominated for a Grammy; other Ghanaians have also been nominated; Wizkid got nominated and won; Burna Boy also won so the truth is Africans, Ghanaians, it is possible.

“I just realised something with film – the business of film is not like music at the moment. When that changes, it will get to a point where people will start talking about it,” the actress noted.

In a post on social media, the RuffTown Records signee stated that the song ‘Warning’ was personal for her adding it was tough for hard working women to find live.

‘I couldn’t attend UCC because they were charging international students in dollars’ – Patoranking https://www.myjoyonline.com/i-couldnt-attend-ucc-because-they-were-charging-international-students-in-dollars-patoranking/ https://www.myjoyonline.com/i-couldnt-attend-ucc-because-they-were-charging-international-students-in-dollars-patoranking/#respond Tue, 20 Sep 2022 01:06:00 +0000 https://www.myjoyonline.com/?p=10032173952 Multiple-award-winning Nigerian singer, Patrick Nnaemeka Okorie, known by the stage name, Patoranking, has revealed the reason he couldn’t further his tertiary education in Ghana.

Although he gained admission to the University of Cape Coast, the Alubarika hitmaker couldn’t advance because the fees for international students like himself, were paid in dollars.

“Back then at the University of Cape Coast, international students were charged in dollars,” Patoranking recounted in an interview with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM.

But the singer did not know that the currency and the quoted figure for the fees were going to have an impact on his enrolment in the school and his advancement to the next level of education.

Basking in excitement after gaining admission, he decided to break the news to his father in Nigeria via phone.

The response was not what he had expected. His excitement was abruptly diffused by his father, who said: “My son, I know this is what you want – to further your education at UCC, but you have siblings. It will be nice to have them have a taste of secondary education.”

His father’s response did not sit well with him, but he had to accept it and think of the next viable step.

The 17-year-old boy’s dreams were suddenly shuttered. He had to look for an alternative – something he specialized in — and that at the time for him was music.

Through determination and faith, he decided that he would use music to change the fortunes of his family.

In his quest to pursue music full-time, the Happy Day singer moved from Cape Coast to Accra, Osu – a town that accommodated a lot of Nigerian immigrants at the time.

Before he became the superstar he is today, the Celebrate Me hitmaker recorded 120 collaborations as an underground artist.

In 2013, Patoranking got an invite by DefJam Africa artist, Stonebwoy, to lay a verse on the remixed version of Pull Up – a track that helped the Nigerian singer to find his feet properly in the Ghanaian music scene.

Fast forward to the year 2014, he released the single that “changed everything” – Alubarika (Blessings) ft Timaya.

In the same year, he followed it up with another hit single, Girlie O. The remixed version featured another Nigerian megastar, Tiwa Savage.

In 2016, he released ‘No Kissing Baby’ featuring two-time BET Award winner, Sarkodie.

By further inking his stamp in the Ghanaian music books, he collaborated with artists like Fancy Gadam, KiDi, Kuami Eugene, MzVee, King Promise, Kofi Kinaata, Bisa K’dei, Jupitar and DJ Mic Smith, among others.

Patoranking is currently in Ghana for the promotion of his brand new single, Kolo Kolo featuring Diamond Platinumz.

‘Artists should make it worthwhile for consumers to support them’ – Nana B. Gyimah https://www.myjoyonline.com/artists-should-make-it-worthwhile-for-consumers-to-support-them-nana-b-gyimah/ https://www.myjoyonline.com/artists-should-make-it-worthwhile-for-consumers-to-support-them-nana-b-gyimah/#respond Mon, 19 Sep 2022 20:26:48 +0000 https://www.myjoyonline.com/?p=10032173891 Chief Executive Officer at Inside, LLC, Nana Boateng Gyimah, says that besides giving listeners good music, artists should give consumers other reasons to support them wholeheartedly.

According to Mr Gyimah, being an artist goes beyond doing music and making it available to fans for consumption.

He also suggested that the support for an artist, by fans, is “earned,” through the way the artist gives back to society and how they treat their fans.

In an interview with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz, the Event Consultant said: “It’s not the fault of the consumers that they are not as forthcoming. It is because the artists haven’t given them reasons to be forthcoming.”

He continued: “The artists need to make it worthwhile for the supporter.”

Mr Gyimah went on to bemoan the low patronage of some Ghanaian events hosted abroad, irrespective of the high level of promotion and the presence of popular artists booked by event organisers.

He also stated that some artists are partly to blame for the lack of support from fans because they do not provide enough reasons they need to be supported fully.

He also went on to admonish fans to show their support for musicians through actions and not just words.

“I don’t want to chastise the people but the support goes hand-in-hand,” said Mr Gyimah.

“You can’t like an artist’s music and not turned up at his/her event.

“You can’t sit at home and say the other country’s artist is big and yours isn’t and not think that you are not part of the issue for saying that,” he said on Hitz FM.

According to Mr Gyimah, one of the ways artists can score more points for support from fans is by engaging in societal initiatives and getting closer to the people.

“They need to be much more than just singing and dancing,” said Mr Gyimah.

“They need to be in touch with their fans.”

Nana B. Gyimah is the Chief Executive Officer at Inside, LLC.

Inside, LLC is a full-service business management and consulting company based in the United States with offices in Ghana and London.

The company’s mission is to bridge the gap between Africa and the United States in all things related to economic development, lifestyle and entertainment.

According to him, he was looking forward to getting admission to one of Ghana’s universities in his early years.

Speaking on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, Patoranking said he was excited when the University of Cape Coast (UCC) decided to admit him.

However, because international students were charged in dollars, his dream of pursuing education came to a halt.

“It was not that easy, especially with where i come from. That afternoon, I was very excited and I called my father. He said ‘my son I know this is what you want but you’ve got your younger siblings and it will be nice to give them a chance to have a taste of secondary education’,” the musician narrated.

“And I said okay and that meant that automatically, I had to just become a man that moment. I remember I was 17/18. I said the only thing I know how to do that can actually change the face of my family was music,” he added.

Patoranking said that he decided to look elsewhere for a career and this journeyed to Accra where he met some Nigerians and began a career in music.

On numerous occasions, Patornaking said that he was homeless and had to make the street his abode.

But after over 120 collaborations, Patoranking said he landed his breakthrough song in 2013.
