The country's best rapper at the last Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, M.anifest has said women are better songwriters.
In an interview with the BBC's Veronique Edwards on Wednesday, he said women songwriters give an interesting perspective to music and they are refreshing to listen to.
Answering a question on why there are few women in the music industry on the continent, he attributed it to the power dynamics.
M.anifest believes it is down to power dynamics where some men feel threatened by the talents of women, they prefer to let them be in the background.
“I want to see more women producers…I think that will change the sound and make it more interesting,” he said.
The 'Nowhere Cool' hitmaker said a phenomenon where two female singers are pitched against one another is unhealthy because there are lots of space at the summit for everyone.
“It makes it more exciting because you just can’t have this testosterone-heavy scene which makes it one way. I am anti one way.
“On every show I do, I try to balance the energy with women…I love working and performing with women artiste that is why I worked with them on every album."
