The Minister for Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku, has dismissed allegations of financial misconduct against the Chief Executive Officer of GoldBod, Sammy Gyamfi's unwavering generosity and character.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosiisen programme on Monday, Mr Opoku stated that Mr Gyamfi "can never steal Ghana’s money," emphasising his long history of selflessness and giving, even in the face of personal adversity.
According to the Minister, he has have been consistent since childhood. He pointed out that Gyamfi’s biggest challenge is his generosity, as he consistently gives to others even when he has little to spare.
This selfless nature, Mr Opoku stated, is one of Gyamfi’s most admirable qualities and cannot be overlooked in light of baseless allegations.
"Sammy Gyamfi can never steal Ghana’s money. I can vouch for him any day," Opoku said. "His generosity is his biggest challenge. Even though he sometimes doesn’t have, he still gives to people. That’s how he has been since childhood up until now."
The Minister further stressed that individuals like Gyamfi, who demonstrate consistent acts of generosity and kindness, should not be subjected to unsubstantiated attacks or character assassination.
Mr Opoku further urged that any public comments made about such individuals must be grounded in evidence and facts, rather than mere speculation or unfounded accusations.
"Whenever we discover someone with his personality, we shouldn’t do anything to destroy him," Opoku remarked, adding, "Anything we say about such people should be evidence-based."
