Cameroon’s Samuel Eto’o has been crowned CAF footballer of the year 2010.
He beat Ghana’s Asamoah Gyan and Cote D’Ivoire’s Didier Drogba to the position.
The Cameroon and Inter Milan star becomes the only player to have won the accolade on four occasions, 2003, 04, 05 and 2010.
The honour was conferred on Eto'o at a colourful ceremony held in Cairo on Monday.
The topmost award must have come as a surprise to Ghana's Asamoah Gyan who only picked up BBC footballer of the year three days ago.
Despite losing the top most position, Ghana won three other awards.
Black Stars and Udinese midfielder, Kwodwo Asamoah picked the Most Promising Player in the year under review whilst the Black Stars was adjudged the Team of the year.
FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi picked a presidential award together with six other presidents.
Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac was voted Coach of the year after he led an injury-prone Black Stars to her first African Nations Cup final in 18 years and again led the Black Stars to her first Quarter final stage in the World Cup.
In the other awards, Ahmed Hassan of Egypt picked up Africa based player of the year.
TP Mazembe picked up the Club of the year having won the CAF Champions League and proceeding to the finals of the World Club competition.
Perpetual Nkwocha also adjudged the Women's Footballer of the year.
The awards are as a result of votes by coaches and captains of the various national teams in Africa.
