The Merseyside derby will be a huge test for Carlo Ancelotti and his side in their quest to secure a top four finish in the 2020/21 Premier League campaign.
Scheduled for an early kick-off on Saturday, Everton will be hosting Liverpool at the Goodison Park.
The hosts, despite a strong start to the campaign still go into this game as underdogs considering the fact that Liverpool will have all of their arsenals available for selection.
Ancelotti’s brilliant business in the summer transfer window gives Evertonians a huge sigh of relief but their biggest test is yet to come over the weekend.
Allan, Abdoulaye Doucoure and James Rodriguez have proved to be bargains so far and it comes as no surprise that the Toffees find themselves on top of the league table after four games played.
They may not be the favourites on Saturday but Everton have every right to be confident playing at home against Jurgen Klopp’s men.
The Reds have only won once in their last five visits to the Goodison Park and though Everton are yet to win at home during this period, they have found a way of limiting the attacking threat of the reigning Premier League champions.
Everton are yet to keep a clean sheet at home this season but it is a different picture going forward - scoring nine times in two league games while conceding four times.
Coincidentally, Liverpool’s two away league games have seen them also concede nine while scoring four.
It will be an intriguing battle to watch and one that would either certify or dismiss Everton’s credentials as worthy competitors for a top four finish this season.
A fierce rivalry between this pair, but it's all that football fans need after a week of uneventful international football.
