A former Assembly Member in the Techiman municipality has presented educational materials valued at GHC40 (400,000 cedis) to God's World Preparatory and Junior High School at Tuobodom in the municipality.
The items were 200 exercise books, 15 packets of chalk, four dozens of pencils and 100 ball point pens.
Mr. Nicholas Sarkodie, the former Assembly Member for Tuobodom-Dompoase, said the donation was to help improve the poor academic performance of pupils in the area and the municipality as a whole.
He said it was his ambition to assist needy parents to enrol their children and remain in school instead of engaging them on their farms.
Mr. Sarkodie, who had earlier made similar donations valued at GHC70 (700,000 cedis) to Combat Academy, Happy Home and Miracle Preparatory Schools at Tuobodom, urged parents to invest in their children's education.
Mr Owusu Tabiri, Proprietor of the school, thanked the donor and said the presentation had come at a time that some of the pupils lacked books.
Mr. E. M. Danso, chairman of the school's parent teachers association, expressed gratitude to the donor and urged citizens of the area to help promote education.
