Reverend Torgbui Mawufe Ame Fugah, National Patron of Wood Workers Association of Ghana has appealed to the Land Valuation Board to expedite action on the compensation of wood workers and landowners at Anloga who were affected by a current relocation exercise.
He said the landowners and carpenters were being relocated to Sokoban in Kumasi to pave way for the reconstruction of the Oforikrom-Asokwa bypass and other physical development.
Rev. Fugah who made the appeal at a meeting with the wood workers at Anloga in Kumasi on Tuesday, said about 7,000 carpenters, lumber and plywood sellers would be affected by the exercise.
He said the affected persons were prepared to relocate but became hesitant as a result of delays in the payment of compensations due them.
Rev. Fugah said works on the Wood Village, a 12.35-hectare industrial estate for the relocation, which included construction of access roads, sheds, a modern car park and provision of electricity, water and telephone has reached an advanced stage.Source: GNA
