A circuit court at Bibiani has sentenced a 29-year-old mason, Isaac Fosu to seven years imprisonment for dealing in fake currency notes.
Fosu pleaded guilty before the court presided over by Mr Kwaku Aboagye and pleaded for leniency.
Police Inspector Lucky Goglomi told the court that on May 21, this year, the accused traveled from Tarkwa to Sefwi-Kukumso and its surrounding villages to purchase maize.
He said after purchasing the maize he promised to pay the farmers the following day.
The prosecution said the police had a tip-off that he dealt in counterfeit currency notes and upon a search in his bag at a hotel where he lodged some fake currency notes in different denominations were found.
After police investigations Fosu was charged, the prosecution added.
