Kankam, believed to be in his mid-40s, was allegedly arrested in the early hours of last Monday and kept in police custody.
According to the Eastern Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ebenezer Tetteh, two persons from the investigative unit of the Medical and Dental Council (MDC), reported that Kankam was suspected to be practising medicine without certification.
The two, Bright Atsu Fuglo, an Administrative Manager, and Desmond Asamoah of the (MDC) chanced upon Kankam at the Yesu Krom Medical Centre during a head count of medical doctors, physician assistants and certified registered anaesthetists at Anyinam.
Consulting room
DSP Tetteh said the police, along with the two complainants, went to the Yesu Krom Medical Centre and met Kankam in a consulting room practising medicine without a licence.
Kankam, he said, had 15 patient folders and one stethoscope in his possession, which were all retrieved and retained for evidential purpose.
DSP Tetteh urged the general public to report any suspicious activity to the police, to facilitate the swift arrest of persons who flouted the law.
