A Tarkwa Circuit court has granted GH¢5,000 (50 million cedis) bail with a surety to Kwaku Baah 42, a farmer for allegedly defiling and impregnating his adopted daughter.
Baah also known as Attalah pleaded guilty at the court presided over by Mr John Ajet Nassam.
Prosecuting, Police Inspector Edward Paddy said the complainant Kwabena Oppong was a farmer residing at Wassa Adiembra near Wassa Akropong.
He said the accused was a farmer and husband of victim's late mother's sister.
Prosecution said the accused and his wife Abena Badu adopted the victim since her infancy and had stayed with them at Wassa Japa near Wassa Akropong.
He said sometime in March this year, Madam Badu traveled for three weeks and during her absence, the accused defiled the victim and impregnated her.
Police Inspector Paddy said relatives of the victim detected that she was pregnant in July this year and she mentioned the accused as responsible and he was arrested.
He said a medical report issued by Dr Fred Yaw Sarpong of Wassa Akropong Government Hospital indicated that the pregnancy was 19 weeks old.
The prosecutor said during interrogation at Tarkwa Domestic Violence and Support Unit, the accused admitted having defiled the victim but denied responsibility of the pregnancy.Source: GNA
