A 40-year-old farmer of Likpe-Mate,Prosper Kodjo Honu, has been sentenced to 20 years in jail by a Hohoe circuit court for defiling a seven year old girl.
Honu was also ordered to compensate his victim with GH¢300.
Assistant Superintendent of Police, Mr Ben Dadzie said the convict lured the victim to a spot in the bush near the River Olla at Likpe-Mate, in the Hohoe Municipality and forcibly defiled her on June 5.
He said a prosecution witness, who was visiting his farm witnessed the scene with Honu forcibly molesting the minor.
Mr Dadzie said the convict then appealed to the witness that the crime be concealed, but was rather apprehended and handed over to the Police.
At the Police station the convict denied committing any offence whiles a medical examination was conducted on the victim and it was found that she had been extensively abused.
He said the convict was then sent to court hence his sentence.
