A Juaso circuit court presided over by Mr S. K. Sarpong Appiah has sentenced a 32-year-old farmer, Kwame Owusu, to 10 years imprisonment in hard labour on his own plea for possessing narcotic drug.
Police Superintendent Francis Agrippa Oppong, prosecuting said police had information that Ofoase, a farming community near Obogu had become haven for drug peddling.
He said on October 28, last year, a combined team of policemen from Juaso and Ofoase embarked on a midnight swoop which led them to the house of the accused.
The prosecution said a search conducted in the house led to the discovery of a polythene bag which contained 85 wrappers of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp hidden in his room.
He said a forensic laboratory test showed that the leaves were Indian hemp, weighing 115 grammes and after investigations charged with the offence.Source: GNA
