Felix Mensah, a farmer, who allegedly threatened and robbed a female trader of her cash and mobile phone has appeared before the Asamankese Circuit court.
The plea of Mensah was not taken and he was remanded in prison custody to re-appear on March 12.
Police Chief Inspector John Nyankomago, prosecuting, told the court presided over by Mr Emmanuel Siameh that on February 23, Salome Amponsah, a trader living at Akateng went to Asamankese to buy cocoa pods.
He said as the woman was walking on a footpath towards the cocoa station, Mensah who had laid ambush, emerged wielding a cutlass.
The prosecutor said Mensah ordered the woman to surrender all her money and mobile phone, or face death.
He said before the woman could talk, Mensah snatched her handbag, which contained a mobile phone valued at GH¢100 and cash of GH¢10.
Mensah took the mobile phone and the money, threw away the bag and re-entered the bush.
The prosecutor said although the woman screamed for help, Mensah had fled before people got to the scene.
The court heard that on March 2, another woman, who also fell victim to Mensah’s robbery, identified and caused his arrest.
A search conducted in Mensah’s room led to the recovery of Amponsah’s mobile phone.Source: GNA
