The Nkawie Circuit Court presided over by Mr Noble Nkrumah on Tuesday remanded Gabriel Nkansah, a farmer into prison custody for two weeks for allegedly threatening to kill a police investigator.
He pleaded guilty to the charge and would re-appear on November 9, this year.
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector H.A. Agyare told the court that on October 29, this year Nkansah appeared before the court on a different charge of causing damage to a cocoa farm belonging to one Nana Acheampong of Esaase-Bontefufuo in the Amansie-West District.
He said when the case was called, Detective Corporal Patrick Bafina, the investigator and complainant in the current case was called to give evidence, and as he walked out of the court after giving the evidence, the accused was said to have followed him and insulted him.
The court was further told that the accused refused on-lookers advice to calm-down and went ahead to buy two fresh eggs and threatened to invoke the gods to cause the investigator’s death.
A colleague policeman who stood close-by then arrested Nkansah and sent him back into the courtroom where he was detained and later sent to the Nkawie police Station where he was subsequently charged.Source: GNA
