The fate of a 14-year-old girl who was allegedly defiled and impregnated by a student of the Cape Coast University hangs in the balance as the NGO sheltering and feeding her and her two-week old baby says it has run out of funds. The teenage mother was driven out of her Madina home by her parents after she was defiled last year. After Joy News broke the story in February, Non Governmental Organisation, Ark Foundation, took her in and has been catering for her until she delivered two weeks ago. But the Foundation says although they are willing to assist, they would need help to continue with attempts to build a future for the mother and child. Millicent Ohenewaa, who works with the Foundation, and has been taking care of the teenage mother at a home in the Eastern Region said, the teenager is currently facing some health complications due to earlier attempts by her mother to abort the pregnancy. She said the girl is constantly falling sick. "Just last two weeks, immediately after she was put to bed, she lost a lot of blood and we had to put two pints of blood on her", Millicent Ohenewaa told Joy News' Beatrice Adu. Meanwhile the Madina office of the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Police said, they are still on the hunt for the man who defiled the girl. Chief Inspector Georgina Sabi, Madina DOVVSU Station Officer, said they have been to the Cape Coast University to look for the man who allegedly impregnated the teenager but efforts to trace him has failed. She said because of the girl's pregnancy, she could not actively assist them in tracing the culprit, but was hopeful the situation will be different now that the girl has delivered.
