Father of one of the two students involved in the fatal incident at Prempeh College says the deceased had threatened his son 'jokingly'.
One student, Samuel Asare Bediako died and another, Tahiri Kofi Boateng, sustained multiple injuries after they both fell from the third floor of the ‘Opoku Ware II’ dormitory block at the Prempeh College last Saturday.
According to eyewitnesses, one student was sitting on the banister and the other came to hug him but in the process the one who was sitting on the banister slipped and while he was falling, he dragged the one who was hugging him along.
Authorities and some students of Prempeh College have been invited by Suntreso Police for questioning.
But speaking to Joy News’ Erastus Asare Donkor, father of injured Tahiri said his son told him a different story contrary to the eyewitnesses’ account given earlier.
According to the father, Tahiri had confronted the deceased earlier about some students he (the deceased) had been bullying and the deceased threatened to teach him a lesson.
“He said he knew the threat from the deceased was a joke. Later he was leaning on the banister when the deceased came over, and held him head down, then he lost control and they both fell from the three storey building,” his father said.
According to Erastus, doctors at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital said the deceased had extensive damage to the brain which indicates that he fell on his back and the injured came tumbling on him with the arm.
But Tahiri had a fractured right arm and some body injuries.
Meanwhile, school activities were going on normally when Erastus Asare Donkor visited.
He said the Headmaster of the school refused to speak about the incident because he is writing a report on it.
Erastus also stated that some school authorities of Prempeh College say they have requested that some structural adjustments are made.
