Some 185 students, who offered various programmes at the FC Beauty College over the past few months, have graduated from the institution.
At an impressive ceremony held at the Trade Fair Centre over the weekend, the graduates were decorated with certificates, cash prizes and kind donations from the institution, L’ Oreal and MVP.
Director and Founder of MVP hair products, Mr. Sandy Osei Agyemang, who was one of many distinguished guests who graced the event called on hairdressers and beauticians to constantly upgrade themselves to meet the growing standards in the industry.
The industry, he said, was growing at a fast pace and currently blooming into one of the largest self-employing sector in the country, and was therefore important that those in the industry constantly upgrade themselves to meet the standards of best practices.
He advised them to always be on the look out for mediums that would improve the work they do, adding that the Internet has become a useful learning tool, which they can tap into for career advancement and enrichment.
“You should not be contempt with where you are now, you need to master your trade, evaluate, access and criticise your own works which would help you prepare yourselves for the long term,” he said.
Mr Agyemang also advised the graduates to be disciplined and always look up to God for inspiration.
Various certificates in hairdressing, beauty therapy, beauty specialist programme and beauty and face among other programmes, were awarded to deserving students. Ms Benedict Boem emerged the overall best student. She received GHC 500, a scholarship to study an advanced programme of her choice at FC, products from L’Oreal, MVP, and will be the face of FC for a year.
Chief Executive Officer of FC, Mrs. Grace Amey Obeng admonished the graduates to be ethical and professional in the administration of their work.
Mrs Obeng said 20 per cent of the college’s total population where foreigners from neighbouring countries who have continually progressed in their training.
Rev Christie Doe- Tetteh, Founder of Solid Rock Chapel International, was the Guest speaker for the occasion.
