The Food and Drugs Board (FDB) has warned the public against patronizing CHAYA YELLOW PURE VEGETABLE OIL, a brand of cooking oil the board says is contaminated and unwholesome.
According to the FDB, a laboratory test of the CHAYA YELLOW PURE VEGETABLE OIL indicated it was extracted from pork fat and could cause heart diseases and kidney complications when consumed in large quantities.
A statement issued by the FDB says 20 tons of the unwholesome cooking oil have been seized in neighboring Cote d’Ivoire.
Although the product is yet to be sited on the Ghanaian market, the FDB is asking the general public to be vigilant and report its presence anywhere in Ghana to its offices on telephone numbers 0244337243; 0244337235; 0244-337247.
