A member of the communications team of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Felix Kwakye Ofosu has stated emphatically that he has no reason to doubt the revelations contained in the leaked US diplomatic cable wikileaks. Felix Kwakye Ofosu advocated that the issues revealed by the leaked cable about the NPP on corruption must be investigated. The leaked US diplomatic cable revealed confidential information provided by some officials of government, political gurus and some journalist on sensitive issues about the presidency and national interest to the US Embassy in Accra. The cable quoted Trade and Industry Minister Hannah Tetteh as making disparaging comments about the speaker of Parliament Joyce Bamford Addo and NDC party chairman Kwabena Adjei. Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt is purported to have told US Embassy officials that flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo smoked marijuana. But on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Wednesday, Felix Ofuso Kwakye opined that the issues revealed by the leaked cable about the opposition NPP and its flag bearer should not be treated with ‘kids gloves’. According to him, there are very damaging revelations in the leaked diplomatic cable about the erstwhile Kufuor administration bordering on corruption and criminality which should be interrogated to establish the truth in the issues. He cited an alleged assassination attempt on the life of Raymond Archer, editor of the Enquirer newspaper for reporting on the Haruna Esseku kickback saga at the presidency as an example of the wicked plots in the Kufuor administration on people who opposed them. The NDC Youth activist bemoaned the deliberate attempt by some pro-NPP newspapers and radio stations to divert attention and distort the information revealed by the leaks concerning the character and moral uprightness of Nana Akufo-Addo. He observed that it would not be out of place for anyone to do a thorough assessment of the personality of Nana Akufo-Addo who is very desperate to become President in 2012. Commenting on some officials of the NDC who have been named in the leaked cables for making disparaging comments about government and their colleagues, Felix Kwakye Ofosu said it is just an intra-party disagreement. He noted that all the issues they are alleged to have said are already in the public domain. Felix Kwakye Ofosu added that the comments by the government officials would in no way affect issues of governance or the image of the country.
