Roverman Productions has announced an increase in the charges for its plays.
According to the CEO, Ebo Whyte, the production house will begin charging an extra GH¢20; taking the charges from GH¢80 to GH¢100.
Announcing the increase at the National Theatre, he stated that “we need that (the increase) to sustain this production. We hope you will not let just GH¢20 separate you and us.”
Uncle Ebo, as he is popularly called, revealed that the team had planned on increasing the charges in 2020.
However, the pandemic affected the plan and thus stalled the increase.
“Five years ago we started charging GH¢80. You agree five years is a long time in terms of charges. Two years ago we said we’d increase the rate to GH¢100 but then the pandemic came and so we couldn't do it but now we are struggling and so with your permission, we are going to go to GH¢100,” he noted.
Uncle Ebo stated that the new charge will take effect during the Festival of Plays - the period where Roverman shows about six plays from its catalogue, including shows from the year in review.
