A class of 25 participants operating small and medium scale enterprises in Kumasi has passed out of the Fidelity Business Academy.
The Academy is run by Fidelity Bank Ghana for its top clients to develop marketing and managerial skills.
The program was introduced six months ago to build capacity of SMEs in cash flow, proper records keeping and marketing strategies.
“If we are going to use what we’ve learnt from here to work, we can benefit a lot”, noted Kofi Boateng, a beneficiary of the three-day program. “Some of use even didn’t know that when you’re working, you need to put yourself on salary structure… but if you know that you’re paying yourself like Gh₵1,000 a month, you know that you’ll learn to spend within that amount”.
The Academy is a collaboration with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) with the objective of capacity building and networking to generate sustainable results.
Head of Commercial Banking at Fidelity, Julian Opuni, tells Luv Biz Report the training will be sustained and entrenched to build sustainable businesses going into the future.
“SMEs are huge part of contributions to this country’s GDP, to employment, to development; so it is important that we tap into that and help them to grow,” he stated.
