Fiesta Royale Hotel has donated various items to the Maternity unit of the Achimota Hospital as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility of supporting the health sector of the country.

The items included an air-condition, flat screen television set, wheelchair, food, water and toiletries.

In addition, the hotel has commenced painting of the maternity block.

Presenting the items, the Acting General Manager of the hotel, Kingsley Addison, said the donation to the health sector of the country has been an annual ritual on the hotel’s calendar.

He said it was the hotel’s commitment to channel its Corporate Social Responsibility programmes to ensuring quality healthcare in the country.

“This has become part of our DNA and as a commitment to sustain it we will adhere strictly by allocating a budget for it yearly in the month of November which is our anniversary year,” he assured.

Mr Addison seized the occasion to urge the public to target Fiesta Royale Hotel this Christmas festivity for sumptuous packages including food, conferencing and accommodation.

In an interview with the media, Sales and Marketing Manager, Mrs Yvonne Eyeson said “we know life is precious and as corporate citizens we are aware of the challenges the health sector is facing and this has motivated us to continually support the health sector with various items. Last year we were on mental health with a donation to the Pantang hospital and today we are here at the Achimota hospital so next year a different hospital will benefit all in a bid to ensure quality healthcare by giving back to society because without them we will not be in business.”

Health officials who were present to receive the Fiesta donation include Mildred B. Kumassah, Medical Superintendent; Gladys Akosua Boateng, Head of the Achimota Hospital Maternity Block; Ivy Nyamekye, Head of Pharmacy and Joyce Gyasi, Head of Nursing.

In her acceptance remarks, Dr. Mildred B. Kumassah reiterated that maternity and newborn health is top priority for the hospital which informed its decision to set up the pregnancy school two years ago as an innovative way of improving communication between the health provider, pregnant women and their families with involvement of relevant stakeholders to offer a complete package of service during the antenatal period.

She thanked Fiesta Royale Hotel and other corporate clients who have come to their need with various items and called for more support for a quality healthcare service in the country.
