Twenty women at the weekend graduated from the Faith In God Assembly (FIGA) International Vocational Centre at Ho, after a two-year training in dressmaking.Each of them was presented with a certificate, sewing machine and its accessories.The centre, which received financial and material support from Eastern Hill Bible Church and Crossroad Community Churches, New York, USA, train girls who could not enter senior high school and school dropouts so that they could be gainfully employed.Reverend Francis Sowu, General Overseer of FIGA, speaking at the ceremony, said it was the Church's avowed aim to attend to both the spiritual and physical needs of its members and the society at large.He said plans were far advanced for the Centre to introduce batik, tye and dye and hair dressing courses and to admit boys from next year, to be trained in tailoring. Rev Sowu commended the donors for their financial and material support for the Church and the Center.Mrs. Margaret Abor, Principal of the Centre, said the modest success it chalked was due to the hard work and dedication of its instructors and their foreign partners.Rev. Doug Bullock, Senior Pastor in Charge of Eastern Hill Bible Church, and leader of the 12 member delegation from the two Churches, in a sermon advised Christians to allow the spirit of God to struggle with their strong earthly desires in order to get God's blessing and to pray constantly and always look up to the almighty God for their needs.Togbe Anikpi III, Chief of Ho Heve, appealed to the grandaunts to work hard to earn a decent living and to also train the less fortunate girls in their communities.He appealed to Church leaders to consider traditional authorities as partners in development adding, "there must be a cordial relationship between traditional authorities and leadership of Churches."Miss Matilda Dogbe who was adjudged the best student received a special prize and present at the event was Rev.
