A 17-year-old final year student of the Akuse Methodist Senior High School in the Eastern Region (name withheld) has sustained serious body injuries after two teachers subjected her to severe beatings for leaving campus without permission.
Joy News has been shown photos and videos taken by medical officers apparently corroborating the assault on the girl. The pictures show wide areas of swellings, bruises and reddened skin on her back, buttocks and legs.
According to the student two teachers whose names were given only as Mr. Tengue and Mr. Adolf yesterday lashed her with a big stick in the presence of the head teacher as her punishment for breaking school rules.
Her colleagues rushed her to hospital after sighting the huge swellings on her body.
According to a doctor at the Akuse Government Hospital who attended to her, the girl is responding to treatment.
The father of the student has condemned the act and vowed to seek justice for her.
The incident has since been reported to the police who will not go on record. The school authorities have also been unavailable for comment.
