President of TV One, Michelle Rice, has tasked content producers in Ghana to discover the interests of international distributors before submitting their works for airtime.  Speaking at ‘The Year of Return Master Class’ on Thursday at the Accra Tourist Information Center, she said TV Networks have their requirements that need to be satisfied. She added that content from Ghana or Africa that does not meet their standard will be rejected.  The President of the American pay television network made this comment while reacting to concern that content from Ghana struggle to get featured on international channels.  ‘’The most successful people who are getting their project made actually do the research or actually talk to the place…I want my project on TV One or BET or HBO….Actually, what do they want?’’ she asked.  Michelle Rice noted that a number of productions submitted by some producers do not factor in the requirements and interests of TV Channels and distributors. “A lot of people are trying to sell me stuff that I don’t want….You did a project but I don’t want it….It is also about trying to sell something to someone that they want,” she stressed.  ‘The Year of Return Master Class’ was organised by The Year of Return Office, Ghana Tourism Authority, and Creative Arts Council and facilitated by Bridge Zone on Wednesday in Kumasi and on Thursday in Accra. The class on the topic ‘Master the Business of Showbiz, America and Ghana Creative Industries Collaboration’ was steered by Hollywood actress AJ Johnson and President of TV One, Michelle Rice.  AJ Johnson emphasized the importance of networking and always ensuring that one is prepared for new opportunities.  In attendance were industry players including Yvonne Nelson, Martha Ankomah, Prince David Osei, Zynnell Zuh and Efia Odo. President of the Creative Arts Council, Mark Okraku Mantey, and his Council members were present for the Master Class.
