The First and Second Ladies, Ernestina Naadu Mills and Lordina Mahama have congratulated women in the country on being the backbone of their families.They said women across the country deserve commendation for the love and commitment they put into the development of their children.In a joint statement issued on Mothers’ Day, the First and Second Ladies “provides us all with an opportunity to thank our mothers for their selflessness and sacrifices.”The statement emphasized the need for further efforts to be made to reduce maternal mortality.“We take this opportunity to assure the women of Ghana and the entire country of our personal commitment to helping improve the lot of especially women in conformity with the promises made by the National Democratic Congress (NDC).”They encouraged working women to play with dedication their “long cherished role of providing care for the family at all times despite the challenges that confront career women.”
