First Lady, Mrs. Lordina Dramani Mahama, has sent a congratulatory message to the Black Maidens and their technical handlers for their historic qualification to the semi-final stage of the ongoing Women’s Under-17 Football Tournament.
The Black Maidens secured a 1-0 win over Japan to book a place in the last four, after qualifying for the quarterfinal stage at the expense of another Asian country, China.
Mrs. Mahama in her message noted that by reaching this stage in the competition the Black Maidens have demonstrated their courage, discipline, tenacity and will to succeed and have through that inspired many young Ghanaians, both female and male, with their performance.
She urged the young ladies to remain focused and keep their eyes on the prize. She also cautioned them against complacency, indicating that the entire country is supporting them to win the ultimate prize.
The First Lady, on behalf the President, charged the technical team to ensure adequate psychological and physical preparation of the young ladies ahead of their next two matches.
