The Office of the First Lady has expressed relief following the safe recovery of the baby stolen from the Mamprobi Polyclinic and her successful reunion with her biological mother and family.
In a statement, the First Lady commended the Ghana Police Service for a swift and professional response that led to the arrest of the suspect and the safe return of the baby.
The statement also struck a strong cautionary note, acknowledging the emotional struggles of women and families dealing with conception challenges, but warning that such difficulties must never be allowed to justify criminal actions.
“While we empathise deeply with women and families facing challenges with conception, desperation must never be allowed to lead to such unconscionable acts,” the statement said.
The Office further urged medical facilities and maternity homes nationwide to strengthen security measures to better protect mothers and newborns.
It emphasised that the safety of mothers and babies must be prioritised, especially in healthcare settings where families expect the highest level of protection.
“The safety of every mother and child must be paramount,” the statement added.
The First Lady’s Office also encouraged individuals who genuinely wish to build families through adoption to follow the legal process by engaging accredited adoption agencies and adhering to the required procedures.
