Ghana has officially marked a significant milestone in its creative industry with the launch of the nation’s very first locally created card games.
The debut ceremony, which took place in Dzorwulu, Accra, on Friday, November 28, 2025, signals Ghana’s entry into the competitive global card-gaming space.

The pioneering company behind this historic achievement, AB Card Games, unveiled its brand and its debut collection, the 'Say Something' series.
A Game that 'Sounds Like Us'
The genesis of the 'Say Something' series was born out of a desire to address a cultural gap in the existing gaming market.
Co-founders Evans Fiifi Aboah Odoi and Fredericka Amfo Boakye-Duah explained that their love for card games was often overshadowed by a feeling of disconnect.
They explained that they created 'Say Something' because many of the card games on the market feel foreign and culturally disconnected from the Ghanaian experience.
As they enjoyed game nights with family and friends, they realised something was missing: the games didn’t sound like them; they didn’t feel like them.
That fundamental insight spurred the duo to design and print a homegrown collection of games, made entirely in Ghana, with the core mission: To make relatable games that bring people back to each other.
The 'Say Something' collection launched with four distinct editions designed to spark conversation across different social settings:
- Say Something: Spicy Edition
- Say Something: Global Edition
- Say Something: Ghana Edition
- Say Something: Complete Edition
The brand's guiding principle is simple yet powerful: Every card starts a conversation.
Beyond Entertainment: Supporting SDGs
AB Card Games views its products as more than just entertainment; the company has strategically aligned its operations with key United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), positioning its products as tools for social and mental development.
| SDG Goal | Contribution |
| SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being | The games reduce stress, screen fatigue, and loneliness by encouraging face-to-face human interaction and bonding. |
| SDG 4: Quality Education | The cards are designed to enhance essential skills such as communication, vocabulary development, logical reasoning, and cultural awareness. |
| SDG 12: Responsible Consumption | By emphasizing high-quality, durable, and reusable materials, the games promote sustainable production and use. |
| SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals | The company is actively seeking collaborations with both public and private institutions, evolving the simple game-night idea into community-building tools. |
The founders' vision is bold: to become Africa’s leading card game brand by celebrating culture, creativity, and connection through engaging, affordable, and relatable play inspired by Ghanaian and global experiences.
The launch event itself was a lively showcase of this vision, treating guests to an evening of music, dancing, networking, and flavourful cocktails, offering a glimpse into the fun and connection the new games are designed to foster.
