#FixTheCountry Movement lead convener, Oliver Barker-Vormawor, has been arrested again.
Felicity Nelson, one of the group's conveners, told JoyNews that he was picked up on Tuesday morning by Police officers while on his way to the court.
“He has a court hearing today. The Police officer asked him to stop and told him he is under arrest. So, he [Barker-Vormawor] asked, ‘why am I under arrest?’ the Police said, ‘your rights are curtailed when you are under arrest.
“So, we don’t know where he is; we don’t know who has arrested him, we don’t know why he’s been arrested. Basically, that’s what is going on,” she said.
On the Movement’s Facebook page, a post read: “Oliver arrested again. Police officer told him his rights are curtailed as soon as he was arrested. We are not safe.”
On February 10, Mr Barker-Vormawor took to social media to threaten a coup following pictures emerging from the Majority Leader’s 65th birthday bash showing an ‘E-levy’-designed cake.
He posted, “If this E-Levy passes after this cake bullsh#t, I will do the coup myself. Useless Army!”
In a subsequent post, he explained the context in which he used the word coup.
Upon arriving from the United Kingdom, he was subsequently arrested on February 11 at the Kotoka International Airport.
On March 16, Mr Barker-Vormawor was granted a ¢2 million bail and two sureties.
Following his release, Mr Barker-Vormawor, in a YouTube address, alleged that he was tortured while in the custody of the police.
In response, the Deputy Attorney General and Minister for Justice committed to investigating the claims.
Alfred Tuah Yeboah charged the activist should provide details of his alleged torture.
