Pedro Chauque, a maize breeder in Maputo Mozambique, covers pointed a maize stalks at the IIAM research station on August 10th 2016. AGRA gave a scholarship to Chauque for his PHD in breeding. Chauque has since went on to help develop and release 5 new varieties of maize which are drought, disease and heat tolerant.
