Joy News has learnt that the Trade Ministry has decided to relax its crackdown on violators of the law against foreigners engaged in the retail trade by giving them one more month to pack out or regularize their businesses.
It comes after the inter-agency task force commenced its crackdown yesterday with the closure of some shops.
ECOWAS nationals were however spared in the operation.
An ECOWAS delegation currently in the country to intervene in the situation would later today meet Nigerian nationals who are reported to have been affected.
Leader of the delegation, Dr. Briama Kamanda yesterday met with officials of the ministry.
He also advised the traders to acquire the necessary permit before operating.
