Four Basic Education Certificate Examination candidates in Antobia in the Juaboso District of the Western Region were prevented from taking part in the exam which started Monday.
The students, two boys and two girls of the Royals Academy were sacked by the Juaboso District Director of Education because they did not meet required standards for the exams.
Speaking to Rainbow Radio’s Yaw Adinkra, Mr Bosompem explained that even though the candidates had paid their registration fees, they skipped classes meaning they did not fulfill the 70 per cent class attendance requirement before sitting for the exam.
About 376, 859 candidates, from 11,164 public and private Junior High Schools were expected to write the examination on Monday. Out of the number, 203,394 are males and 173,465 are females.
According to the Deputy Director General of the GES, Mr. Stephen Adu measures have been put in place to ensure successful examinations and assured supervisors of their support to enable them execute their roles effectively.
Mr. Adu, who went round some centres to observe how things were going, said everything was going on well, noting that no hiccups had been encountered.
In the Ashanti Region, the District Chief Executive for Atwima Nwabiagya, Nana Asare Bediako advised candidates to be self confident and expressed the hope that the District will see better results this year compared to last year.
