Frederick Lawson, the unbeaten Ghanaian welterweight boxer’s quest for world championship glory has received a massive boost after sealing a management and promotional deal with California based Tony Grygelko of Seconds Out Promotions and Kingsportsworldwide.com respectively.

“It’s a welcome development, so far so good. It was something we were looking for and I am just glad I got that opportunity. We can only hope for the better,” said Lawson who has been training in Accra with his local trainer.

Lawson is already billed to fight on October 1 on the undercard of Curtis Steven versus Hassan N’dam N’jikam’s IBF title eliminator at the Barker Hangar, Santa Monica, California with Allsports.com.gh sources indicating Lawson’s opponent is highly likely to be former Ghana Commonwealth Games gold medallist, Ray Narh now a 36 year old veteran based in New York.

According to our sources, Kingsportsworldwide have already handed the paperwork to Ray Narh who has agreed to sign, notwithstanding the fact that he has lost all of his last three fights and four of the last five having lost just one of his previous 21 career fights.

Young Lawson who still has a perfect career record of 22 victories in all 22 professional fights with 20 knockouts, is however unfazed with the prospect of facing his senior compatriot and is focusing on claiming victory to push his bid closer to a world title shot.

“I don’t feel anything, this is not the first time. I faced former world champion, Alfred Kotey previously and I had no problem. This is my work, I am a gladiator, that’s what I do,” Lawson told Allsports.com.gh in Accra.

“I didn’t come (to Ghana) to rest, I came for holidays but I have been training, I go to the gym. We’ve been preparing towards the fight on October 1 and whether it’s against my countryman or not, I will approach it with the all the determination I can,” Lawson added.

The boxer flies out of Accra to California on Monday and Lawson is sad to depart but is assuring all his fans that he will be gunning for championship belts just for them.

“I’m sorry I will be leaving this week back to the USA because we have a job to do. I want to tell all my fans, family and friends that I love you all as I love myself. God bless you all, I leave you all in peace. General Okunka, much respect, one love,” Lawson said.
