Ghana’s senior national football team, the Black Stars, have commended the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) for its timely intervention in funding dialysis treatment in Ghana, marking the authority's 20th anniversary.
The National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) has commenced a six-month free dialysis support programme for renal patients from June to December 2024.
The visit by the Black Stars, led by Captain Thomas Partey, included a congratulatory note to Dr Aboagye on his new role and appreciation for the NHIA's efforts in enhancing healthcare benefits.
The Black Stars expressed their gratitude to the NHIA for the improved health benefits and pledged to collaborate with the Authority to promote wellness and healthy habits through sports and fitness.

The players emphasised the importance of this partnership in fostering a healthier community.
Dr Aboagye, in turn, thanked the team for their support and encouraged them to become advocates for the NHIA and the broader health sector.
He extended his best wishes to the Black Stars for their upcoming World Cup qualification matches.
The Black Stars are scheduled to play against the Eagles of Mali in Bamako on Thursday, June 6, 2024, as part of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Match day three qualifiers.
