Government is ready for the swearing-in ceremony of President elect John Dramani Mahama, outgoing Minster of Information, Fritz Baffuor has said.Fritz Baffuor told Joy News, given the successful organization of late John Mills’ funeral at the Independence Square, the government is sure of organizing a successful ceremony on January 7.He however noted that Parliament is working hard on rectifying a technical challenge that is seeking to challenge the smooth transition.According to the Transition Act, the new Parliament should be inaugurated 2 days before the 7th [of January]. The Constitution also states that the first meeting of the new Parliament should see the election of deputy Speakers and that should take place after dissolution.
He said Parliament is however working hard to ensure that these bottlenecks are amended between now and the January 3, 2013.The Information Minister also revealed that so far, most of the Ministers have submitted their handing over notes as requested by the Head of the Transition Team, Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur. He said also the four-wheel vehicles requested by the Head of Transition Team have also been returned by the Ministers and the appointees of government.
