Fuel prices have been increased by 8 per cent for all petroleum products.
The National Petroleum Authority and the Oil Marketing Companies announced the new rates following price increases of crude oil in the world market.
Crude oil now sells at 63 dollars a barrel after it shot up to 66 dollars in March which is under review.
Filling stations are expected to effect the price changes for petrol, diesel, kerosene and Liquefied Petroleum Gas by Friday morning.
The last upward adjustments in petroleum products was on 31st of March 2007. The price adjustments ranged between 6 and 8 percent across board, with premium receiving the highest price increase.
The increment follows hikes in crude oil prices in the world market ranging between 65 and 67 dollars a barrel, the highest this year.
