The Ga East Municipal Assembly in its bid to maintain peace has seized a developer’s equipment to prevent him from building without approval.

The Municipal Assembly said they seized of the building equipment from Mr. Daniel Odartey Lamptey [the developer] because persistent warnings to desist from construction were not heeded.

The assembly explained their Task Force had also written on the building stop work because the ownership of the land in Abokobi in the Greater Accra region was in question.

According to the assembly, business man Mr. Kelvin Okubama in June 2018 petitioned the Property Fraud Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department to investigate a case of trespass by a suspect, Mr. Daniel Odartey Lamptey in respect of a land located at Abokobi.

The complainant submitted his statement and document to support his claim of ownership to the CID.

Speaking to Joy News ACP Isaac Quist said the suspect was arrested and later granted bail to be reporting to the police periodically.  

While the police were still investigating the matter, Mr. Lamptey went back to continue the construction of the storey building so Mr. Okubama reported the new development to the Ga East Municipal Assembly.

The Municipal Works Engineer, Mr. Peter Bah Iano told Joy News that at a Committee meeting the parties were advised to hold on with construction and allow the Assembly to deal with the ownership of the land.

Subsequently, the Assembly gave them a month to allow them to produce the search report for a decision to be taken by the court.
