A third claimant to the Ga Stool has rubbished the recent installation and outdooring of the new Ga Mantse Nii Tackie Adama Latse II.
Nii Tackie Oblie II privately known as Aryittey Canada insists he is the legitimate heir to the throne and has since 2007 been acknowledged as the legitimate Ga Mantse.
His spokesperson Nii Okai Osahene told Joy News’ Dzifa Bampoh some King Makers have refused to acknowledge Nii Tackie Oblie because they claim he doesn’t have money.
The new twist brings to three the number of living personalities who have, at one time or another, been installed and outdoored as Ga Mantse.
Nii Tackie Tawiah III until Sunday’s installation of Nii Adama Latse II was publicly known, albeit with controversy, as the Ga Mantse.
Nii Okai Osahene said both men have no place in the Ga throne, insisting Nii Tackie Oblie II (Aryittey Canada) is the rightful heir to the Ga Stool.
He challenged the power of the Gbese Mantse, Nii Ayibonte and the Dzaasetse, Nii Amarkai to install a new chief.
“Latse can never be king,” he swore, adding, “The people who installed him have no power to enstool a chief.”
Aryittey Canada has being accused of subversive acts to dethrone Nii Tackie Tawiah III and was only recently charged for unlawful entry and destruction of drums and other items in the Ga Stool House.
But the spokesperson of Nii Adama Latse II has described the comments as surprising.
Nii Annan explained to Joy News that Aryittey Canada was one of three persons (which included one Kevin Takie, and George Aryittey now with a stool name of Nii Adama Latse) who were vetted by king makers but was disqualified.
According to him, the two disqualified persons - Aryittey Canada and Kevin Tackie were made to sign a document acknowledging George Aryittey as the rightful heir to the throne.
He was shocked that Aryittey Canada will now turn around and bastardise the same person he agreed was the legitimate heir to the throne.
Meanwhile, the Ga-Dangme Council said the incidents in the Ga-State will mar the reputation of the Ga people.
Spokesperson of the Council KB Asante told Joy News the claimants must give peace a chance.
He said his council will meet the warring factions to find an amicable solution to the problem.
