A member of the Ga Paramount Stool Dzaase Council, vetting candidates for the Ga Mantse, has been stabbed.
Paa Tee Botchwey is responding to treatment at the Hospital for a deep cut on his ribs, following the attack on Saturday.
The victim was alleged to have been stabbed by a cousin who is said to be a member of a rival chieftaincy group.
Even though the motive for the attack is yet to be ascertained, family sources believe the attack has something to do with the ongoing chieftaincy struggle in the Ga land.
They claim the victim had received countless threats prior to Saturday's attack.
The suspect has since been on the run, Joy News has learnt.
Last week, the king maker of the Ga Paramount stool, Nii Tetteh Kwei II, made an appeal to President Mahama and the IGP to intervene in the continuous parading of one individual as Ga Mantse in spite of a Regional House of Chiefs ruling that declared the seat vacant.
The victim was a key witness in the settlement of the Ga chieftaincy dispute at the Regional House of Chiefs.
Joy News' Fred Smith who has just returned from the hospital said the victim is responding to treatment.
"He had a huge bandage on his ribs; he could speak but with a lot of difficulty and doctors are monitoring him very closely," he said.
Family members of the victim have trooped to the hospital to sympathise with Botchwey.
They are asking the police to arrest the suspect immediately and make him face justice.
