The Get Atta Mills Endorsed (GAME) Team, has expressed concern over the growing incidence of falsehood, character assassination and unnecessary bickering that is bedeviling the campaign leading to the July 8-10 Congress in Sunyani.
The group that has been campaigning for the endorsement of President John Atta Mills as the NDC’s flag bearer for Election 2012, expressed the worry in a statement issued by Ms Barbara Serwaa Asamoah, Spokesperson of GAME, in Accra on Friday.
She said the President Mills Campaign Team shared the concerns of NDC supporters and sympathisers that dragging the party’s name in the mud as a result of personal attacks, accusations and counter accusations and false representations was not in the interest of the NDC.
“GAME decries the posture of persons who say they have nothing to lose by destroying the party together with themselves. It urges Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings to advise her campaign team against the “crying wolf syndrome”,” Ms Asamoah said.
She said the Campaign Team would not be drawn into any media-driven campaign based on falsehoods and baseless stories and accusations from the camp of its opponents.
Ms Asamoah said: “We’ll continue to operate along the publicly stated position of President Mills; of decorum and respect for each other, especially as we are members of the same party, the Great NDC.
“We urge all true followers of President Mills to continue to conduct a clean grassroots campaign and avoid the temptation to play into the hands of persons let on the loose and who have very little regard for the consequences of their actions and utterances on the future of the NDC”.
