The Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) has called on the government to make provisions for the construction of a first class boxing facility for the nation.
A statement signed by Moses Foh-Amoaning, chairman of the GBA, said boxing has over the years brought more laurels to the nation than any other sport hence the need to take a special interest in the development and promotion of the sport.
“We trust that under the leadership of His Excellency, Prof. John Evans Atta Mills, the boxing fraternity will have the privilege of seeing the construction of a first class 5,000-10,000 capacity boxing coliseum to make Ghana a Mecca for the sport”. The statement said.
It added that the Kaneshie Sports Complex which was named after Azumah Nelson will be brought to the physical and aesthetic standards that befit the status of a boxing hero and legend.
The statement also congratulated President Mills for his ascension to the highest office as the President of the Republic of Ghana.
“May the government, under your leadership, thrive and witness exceptional progress and prosperity to all Ghanaians,” it added.
